I've been reading Gunnm for over 12 years, and that is straight up how she looks in contrast to everybody else in the series, including other cyborgs. Everyone has already decided to not see the movie anyway. The uncanny valley is the desired reaction: she SHOULDN'T look like a regular person, or even any cyborg from the Scrapyard itself! But nobody knows, or cares about this source material except for me. I got one concern, and one concern only: how can you really do it PG-13? I need exploding dogs.

This movie is going to break every box office record in the universe and won't hurt Ryan Reynold's career one bit and I'll probably still enjoy it, I just don't think he's very good or funny. I mean, the trailer has a dumb Will Smith joke/meme in it, and even Will Smith delivers the line better.

When I saw the earlier Alita trailer I thought the eyes were an interesting choice and I was kinda okay with them, but whatever tweaks they made to the CGI between trailers now feel like they give her face that same quality that the Superman's CGI-removed mustache had. I dunno. Looks way weirder now.

It seems, from what I read around, this is her first big acting job. Context of why I find this awesome: There's a lot of indigenous/ people with indigenous roots that are trained in theatrical acting, yet don't get the same chances in the media business as anyone else. So some end up performing in tiny community theaters, the occasional cultural documentary, etc. So yay! Hope she does well in the future.
