This isn't just brainworms, this is actively harming yourself and your family over ideology, and a particularly callous and malevolent ideology at that. America is a place where people don't know the first thing about any kind of ideology, all they know is that the only reason America is Great is that we don't have socialism. If we got socialism — why would we ever want to do that? — we would immediately cease to be America.

It's why Never Trumpers and other ex-Republicans should not be trusted or allowed to act like they aren't just a Trojan Horse of bad politics waiting to happen. Every one that has claimed to have a crisis of concience always reveals that they just didn't like social ramifications of their ideals which didn't change at all. I wonder how much traction they'll get trying to drag her over mistakes and misstatements made during her Instagram streams. On the one hand, it's not hard to assemble sound bites that appear damaging, but on the other, you've got an incoming member of Congress talking extemporaneously to people and taking live questions. I feel like that second one is gonna leave a bigger impression on most folks.

Not just for attacking women. Really any person under 45 is viewed as immature and not worth anything because they don't have "experience". Ageism is HUGELY prevalent in American culture because we hole the older generation up on a pedestal as a measure of respect because they know the "real world". Young people upset the apple cart because they don't fall in line as easily and frighten olds. This is a tool int heir toolbox to disenfranchise young women, but let's not pretend it isn't directed at ALL young people the moment they voice their opinion. We saw it during the Occupy Movements. We saw it during the advocacy of the students from Parkland. Hell, we saw it during Obama's campaign. My own family questions my sources when I voice an opinion because they must be "from blogs". People over 60 are venerated in this society and it needs to stop.

Dumbfuck Trumpers trying to nitpick stuff she says and act like they are the smarties is hilarious since they have lost any semblence of legitimacy they unfairly gained by years of the discourse being dictated by ghouls claiming conservatism was the "intelligent" ideogy. Also pretty much every conservative reply to that is a variation of "umm the system is SUPPOSED to disenfranchise people we don't like don't you understand that dumb dumb??" One of the best parts of AOC is she understand there's no meeting in the middle with people who considering their enemies less on the citizenship scale than themselves and treats them accordingly unlike Serious Democrats. Right-wing types have been able to dismiss people like her for generations by saying "Look here kiddo, we all want free candy, but it isn't that simple. You can't just HAVE free stuff like health care and racial justice. There are more complexities at work here that you just don't know about. This stuff is difficult to do, now let the grown-ups handle the hard work *pats on head*" Young people who want to appear smart have often been seduced into going along with that position because it makes it seem like they've got an inside line on the secret arcane complexities of reality, whereas all their classmates who think the answers are easy are just naive and delusional. But what might be different now is that if the younger generation is well-connected enough to a) be educated on how these goals can be brought about realistically, and b) react viscerally to that infantilization and condescension they get from boomers, they'll steamroll it.

Fake edit: millennial is a pretty huge net, like '81 to '95'ish. So most people in their 30s still count as millennials. Generations are kinda dumb, and I feel like the real breakpoint is if a person was young enough to integrate when social media started to blow up. Even stuff like blogs and web forms create a huge gulf between those without.

My primary point is I think she is just as attractive to digital immigrants like people born from 1981 to 1990. She is definitely the representative of the Digital Age so has the digital native vote locked down. AOC excites me as a voter and makes me proud to be an American in a non-creepy patriotic way. I am not super concerned about this model being used with bad intent because those models prey on a specific set of voter who let's be honest, is not going to be in the progressive camp, to begin with. Plus, it requires that person to hit back at the trolls and criticism with the now patented AOC Twitter Knockout blow which let's be honest is not really in the wheelhouse of the Conservative Party. I am leerier of it being co-opted by the olds of the Democratic Party and just falling flat because it will come across as "what's up fellow kids". Example: Pokemon Go To the Polls
