This thread is not A-grade CSPAM for sure, but I just checked the D&D UK thread and nah, it's still worse.

That actually seem bad for Europe as its basically the first crack in their united front, and if the talks are reopened for Gibraltar the Brexshits will have a semi reasonable case to reopen other parts of it.

(disclaimer: I'm extremely dumb and stupid)

but what position of power is germany angling for?

is it to try and give just enough hollow concessions to the tories so that they keep power, idiots who will continue effectively holding the shrinking british nations under austerity law and order so that the isles can be even more effectively drained by the EU of anything worth having -- before a comrade jeremy corbyn or etc might step up and do things otherwise?

Well so the thing Spain wants isn't even Gibraltar itself, but the right to unilaterally negotiate for it later without the EU being involved. Germany doesn't want other EU countries to do things on their own, because then the Germans don't have a say.

Presumably the German government also wants to have Brexit resolved in a non-dumpster-fire way because they don't want it to spark The Troubles part 2, or have a Children of Men Island off the coast of the EU. However they want everything to be done according to the laws of the EU, not make wacky deals that are of no benefit to the EU while also undermining the authority of EU law (which is what allows Germany to exert soft power all over the continent)

Still gonna be hilarious if this ends up with Brexit breaking the EU.

Yes, a market crash has never caused an economic recession. I mean it's not suddenly it is way harder to get credit for regular people or anything when that happens. No effects at all! Definitely no mass layoffs ever!

Goa Tse-tung posted:

FTSE had been relatively flat until October? Hardly a major stock downturn. Sure a crash doesn't always result in a recession but only because of tricky maneuvering on a central banks' part when it happens.

1929 for the obvious example not that there aren't many. Was an economic recession after the dotcom burst, too, although I think the UK mostly avoided that one.
