I downloaded instagram to try to watch AOC's videos and I can't figure out how to use it. So I guess I'm old now.

Grapplejack posted:There's no ground support for Dems in a lot of these states and they feel cast aside by the Dem leadership. Like, Ohio, for example. The national party has left them swaying because the neoliberal platform they love so much has severely damaged the state and they have zero interest or plans to deal with it. Brown is popular in Ohio because he gives a poo poo and is trying to make things better there. Byrd loving annihilated everyone who tried to challenge him in WV, primarily because he rode so hard in diverting funds and jobs to the state. It's a lack of interest from the party writ large that is the problem and something that needs to be changed if you want to see more left-y people in Congress from the rust belt states. But hey whatever. \/\/ We're talking about the same thing, you're milkshake-ducking him, and I'm just trying to defend him by justifying what are obviously some pretty bad opinions, cos I don't want to see a guy who does good farming get milkshake-ducked. That plan by the US government is absolutely abhorrent. A few years back when I arrived for work at the hospital there was a small demonstration outside. Not a very usual thing for where I worked, a large teaching hospital. It turned out they were protesting against people born with hypospadia / indeterminate genitalia being operated on after birth and assigned a sex more or less on the whim of the surgeon. This is apparently the norm for what happens to these babies. Unsurprisingly in a big proportion of cases the person grows up feeling they've been assigned the wrong one. If lawmakers are aware this happens its incredibly morally corrupt to propose that law. Disgusting.

What would it take to get the USA's relationship with Saudi Arabia to the same place the relationship is with Israel? I'm not directly comparing the two countries - but it seems the gap between "our Middle Eastern ally did a bad thing, but it's okay because they're our ally" and "our Middle Eastern ally can do no wrong, and criticism of that ally is Literally Treason" is a small one and the Saudis would be eager to bridge it.
