bloom into you is a really good adaptation of a pretty good yuri manga. the direction's really solid, lots of little character quirks and movements that add a lot to them, and the voice actors are all really on the ball. a few episodes look kinda bland but it's still doing a great job with the material, they've even shuffled around a few scenes/lines to make stuff flow better, and introduced a few one-off original scenes. its not like, reinventing the material or anything but it's good stuff if you like the manga or want a yuri anime thats kinda lowkey but still has actual like, relationship drama and dynamics, since so much yuri stuff is either constantly in your face or completely plotless/arcless.

idk what youre actually into so i just guessed based on the av

I think you might like SSSS.Gridman, it's got great action scenes and a decent sense of humor, as well as a lot of mystery surrounding the world and its characters.

I bought the Love Hina DVD box and regret it's not Blu because the interpolation is bad.

Sorry, LH was the first series I ever watched through fan rips and translations so it has a good place in my memories. Right there alongside Devil hunter Yohko.

BTW the Dancin' Homer encodes were total rear end. RealPlayer would have done a better job.

I also do not know off the top of my head what Seph is into, but I'll cosign the Bloom Into You rec and also throw in SSSS Gridman - it's super well directed and a lot of fun to look at and the writing has been really intriguing, even if I'm still slightly nervous about how it's going to be able to stick the landing.

Fake Edit: gently caress beaten

As far as early 2000s harem series go you can do a lot worse than Love Hina, I'll say that much. At least a couple of the characters kind of work.

If you do watch Bloom into You, try to get the fansubs because the Sentai script has a handful of mistranslations and missed nuances.

The cool thing about Eva on Netflix is that the anime is 25 years old, but we still have to wait six months for it to be put up.

We do have Gundam at home, and Amuro does spend a lot of time with people yelling at him to get in the robot...

It's funny how people still paint eva as unusual when it comes to making mech piloting unglamorous, but people have and had the same exact discussions about Gundam protags as they do Shinji (weird kids in some degree of crappy families hosed up by falling in a death machine).

Not an own on eva though, just another point where people see deconstruction in what's probably just straight influence (Anno is a noted Tomino fan), or at least following in some level of genre tradition.

A lot of people like "Rascal does not dream of Bunnygirl Senpai." this season. Pseudo-science makes typical high school issues like bullying and dating turn into time loops and invisibility, which the protagonists have to navigate.

The dialog's sharp, the main characters have a good dynamic, and the pace is nice and quick, with every two or three episodes finishing an arc.

I do like how Asuka seems to have carved herself into a reasonably well-adjusted adult by sheer bloody-minded determination in 3.0. Like, she's permanently fourteen years old, the world's turned into a Salvador Dali painting with murderous robot squid, and her job is to get inside her dead mom, turn into a sabre-toothed tiger, and maul things while screaming like a maniac, but she's got a girlfriend, she's got a cool eyepatch, and she's got her poo poo sufficiently together that she can deliver succinct, on-point talk therapy while her mouth is extending into her neck and she's trying to use her toes to gouge out the eyes of the person she's talking to, and they will loving listen to it.

But it is a cool robot in Gundam.

...Are you saying Gendo is actually a hero, but that distracts from the real main themes? That's a pretty hot take, Colonel.
