SanDisk® microSDXC line is what I have and is branded for Switch and found cheaply. You want the XC style card for the faster speed.

My Switch Indie Picks are Celeste, Thumper, and Tumbleseed. All are available for pretty cheap, though you may bounce off of Tumbleseed. It's a weird roguelike that's both chill and stressful, though they added a big patch not to long after it came out and tipped the scale way more into the chill side. Also Enter The Gungeon is on sale regularly and a good alternative to Isaac. But Celeste is drat near perfect and Thumper is badass. I thought Golf Story was charming enough but pretty mediocre and forgettable after the fact.

Someone mentioned the scenes cut from Freedom Planet and I'm really seeing it on this playthrough. I picked Carol to play and I'm two stages in and there's already references to a bunch of background that was never explained.

My disdain for you all knows no bounds.
Soul Melter EX is loving brutal. The last string of bosses are easily the toughest in the entire series. Instead of giving you 6 tiny tomatoes, they give you 2 tiny tomatoes, 2 Pep Brews, and 2 Maxim Tomatoes. You'll need them! If you ever wanted to see what happens when HAL takes the kid gloves off, you'll get it!

Is... Is Star Allies deep? I avoided it because Robobot, while really dope in terms of movesets, was too easy to justify Kirby having so many options at his disposal. Are things with Star Allies different? I keep seeing updates for it and I wonder if there's really so much game or challenge to digest that you'd have the time to cycle through a jillion characters.

I wonder if there's any chance of that Strider remake getting ported. I missed out on that one and it looked pretty alright.

Up until the latest update, I'd have said that you'd have that same issue.

Then I got to the new extra mode and the new bosses within. Specifically, the three Mage Sisters at once.

I haven't encountered a Kirby boss that made me wish I had another human player to back me up since I first played Super Star.

When I was like six or seven.

I was telling some friends that Star Allies has some amazing abilities and mechanics that really want some punishing challenge to use them on. I now kind of regret opening my mouth.

There isn't really a concentrated place to find stuff out. The only thing I can suggest is that you avoid the Kirby Wiki, the guy there spouts stuff and recaps that are blatantly wrong and bans anyone that tries to correct him. Like to the point he straight up has this weird belief that the guy writing the stories of the games is somehow wrong and he's always right.
E: Legit if you have anything you're wondering about just post and I'll type up a [LORE BLOCK]. I like typing up Kirby Lore because it's super twisted at times.

Though the real answer is that you can just play Star Allies or whatever and not worry about it unless you're interested in the world presented to you. The story mostly comes from pausing the game when fighting a boss and reading their backstory and putting things together. The games director is also insanely dedicated to the overall plot he's trying to convey so he openly talks with fans if given the chance to try and get people on the right page that want to be there.

Kirby is a series about a pink puffball that has to deal with actual cosmic horror and things that can literally bend and rewrite reality. Just enjoy the absurdity of seeing a cute thing vs mega satan.

I play Kirby the same way I play Mario. The story is that you are a homicidal monster that was unleashed by the authorities when another bad guy does something. You aren't saving the day so much as going on a killing spree in the right direction.

The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle. The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive. Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Oh man, I appreciate the offer, thank you! But I wouldn't know what to ask! I guess, could you explain in spoiler tags what everyone is so excited about from the new Star Allies update?

Alright, well, will talk about it in spoiler tags as it covers a handful of games. Also pardon me as it's like 4:30am so I'm not about to proofread a massive post.

The first game featured King Dedede stealing all the food in Dreamland. Dedede isn't actually a king you see, he just kinda showed up one day and called himself that and nobody cared to correct him. That's the kind of guy he is. Kirby defeats him and returns food to the people of popstar which ticks Dedede off. Not because his evil plan was foiled but "Hey they respect Kirby! *I* Want to be respected!"
This plays into the next game when the fountain of dreams gets clogged leading to everyone having nightmares. Kirby heads to the fountain and finds Dedede bathing in the water like it's a vacation spot and the two tussle over a misunderstanding. Turns out a evil entity called Nightmare sprung up from there and Dedede actually sealed it away thinking that he was doing good- unknowingly causing Nightmare to invade the dreams of Popstar. The two team up and defeat the monster but again, Kirby gets all the credit so Dedede is properly mad/annoyed.

Unrelated to anything going on on the planet there's a white being named Zero floating around. This thing has no emotions, no love, no hate, no wants or needs- anything. It just kind of exists. That is until Dedede's jealousy reaches it and causes something to change. The white form spits out a black droplet called Dark Matter to investigate and the invasion of Dark Matter begins. The main "Piece" possesses Dedede in order to learn about Jealousy and whatnot while another piece slowly takes the shape of something resembling Kirby (and becomes his friend, Gooey).

Kirby learns about the invasion and sets out to stop it- and with the power of some rainbow drops he expels Dark Matter from Dedede. Dark Matter now taking the form of the "hero" Dedede wishes he was (he even has the same red/yellow triangles on his cloak) the two do battle and Dark Matter dies.

Zero feels this and gets super pissed now that he knows about jealousy and anger and decides to come destroy popstar/kirby personally launching an even bigger attack on the land. Kirby and Gooey step up again and enter the [Hyper Zone] where they have a final fight against Zero who's revealed to be a white sphere with a red eye that shoots blood everywhere. After flying around in the sky for a bit Kirby murders the hell out of Zero and repairs popstars rainbows that Zero crashed through during the invasion. Zero is now dead.

But hey his soul isn't. Zero's carcass is just kind of floating in space and is shooting dark matter everywhere. It avoids popstar for justified reasons that Kirby would just kick it's rear end again but unfortunately a fairy named Ribbon escapes to popstar anyway to recruit him. Zero's soul is literally shot to death with a crystal gun and that menace is finally put down for good. There's a few other loose ends like the Amazing Mirror trying to produce it's own Dark Zero but it's honestly not too important on that front.

-Cut to Star Allies-
Turns out ages ago there was a actual evil force that required two tribes to fight it off- one that uses magic and another using technology. The magic users summoned a being called the Dark Lord: Void Termina and with enough effort they defeated the great evil, though VT was lost in the fight. The Technology based tribe (called the ancients) saw the magic used and began fearing the other tribe and decided "the magic is too dangerous, we need to betray them before we get betrayed. I mean really, they called that thing a Dark Lord." So they banished magic users to the far edges of the galaxy hoping that they'd die out alone while they got to enjoy peace and prosperity.
Countless years later Hyness, a survivor from the magic tribe returns and has clearly gone batshit insane from the unfair treatment of his tribe and finds out that what he called VT was killed/destroyed (it's Zero it turns out). This sends him off the deep end and he sets out to perform a ritual to revive Void Termina. He fucks it up and spreads dark/light energy all over the galaxy and he sets his mages out to go collect it.
By the time Kirby arrives the ritual is already nearly complete, and Hyness after being cornered sacrifices his generals then takes his own life to revive Void Termina. Kirby then has to do battle with it. Strangely enough when Kirby reaches the soul of Void Termina it starts mimicking him in appearance. Long and short of the situation this version of Zero has been reset to well, a blank slate. It's *trying* to become good based on the positivity of Kirby and his friends, but it's been revived with nothing but negativity so it's literally flipflopping constantly. When you fight it's true form in the base game it straight up says "It'll probably revive one day, hopefully next time it does it can finally be a friend."

So here comes tonights DLC. You go to another dimension where you get the chance to rewrite the ending to some extent and save Hyness and his Generals from going batshit. You then fight a pure Void Termina who this time looks exactly like how Zero did and it's description drops a pretty big bomb along the lines of "Hey did you know if Zero is raised on nothing but positivity it turns into a Kirby?" implying that Zero and Kirby are somehow the same drat thing. "Yeah it can be a horrible tyrant, but maybe it can also just want to nap and be friends with everyone too" kinda talk.

People deep in the lore hole with me are now just laughing wildly as this is something that's been built up and hoped for since the Super Nintendo.

This rules and is exactly what I was hoping for, thank you SO much!!!!

So if I'm reading it right, the new update (massive spoilers) basically reveals Kirby's Origin Story?

As far as I can tell off the bat it at least gives a very good idea of it. I'm sure there will be some interview or something similar down the line to clear up any possible confusion but for now it's hard to read it as anything other than that.

Man, this is really interesting to me, and makes me want to play through the Kirby series from the beginning (I might skip Dreamland and Adventure/Nightmare since I played those already.) Are the interviews collected in one place?

Nah, there's some scraps here and there on various websites that are easy enough to google but Kumazaki used to rely on the Miiverse a lot to talk to fans and make big lore dumps of his own. Some of which are now kind of impossible to find direct screencaps of for uh, unfortunate reasons.

Dude really loves the series and characters though. He's been known to go into pointless details like "Meta Knight like to keep a ice cream under his coat to eat when no one is looking" to "this dead character loved having his chicken dinners cooked in this specific way." It's kinda silly.

The main question I'm left with about Kirby is whether there are multiple Zero-like beings that can individually become evil or turn into a Kirby, or if Kirby and Zero are literally one and the same but from different timelines and have gotten pulled into the same dimension as each other by people summoning Dark Lords and poo poo.

I suppose it's just as well. It and every other Switch game is going to be massively overshadowed by Smash Ultimate's release.
