Mr. Lobe posted:even having been a member of the ISO when I lived in the US 9 months ago, it is hard to feel anything but mild bewilderment when seeing a take like that. I assume it is the product of some kind of mental illness http://socialistworker.org/search?text=%23metoo there's nothing wrong with ISO here the WSWS having their bizarre stance has something to do with David North and the last time they split from somebody it was because of sexual assault allegations, so David North is probably a rapist molester too. I forgot a lot of the details but a friend looked into it and that's what I remember.

Graphic posted:http://socialistworker.org/search?text=%23metoo I was referring to the WSWS being nutty, not the ISO haha. I just mean, it's so bizarre that it's hard to be offended on behalf of the ISO, whom I would still be organizing with if I still lived in the US.

I am guessing you and I had different experiences in one or both of those regards.

apropos to nothing posted:what were they expelled for? forced to resign after being told they couldnt continue to make the criticisms they were making and holding the opinions they had. i understand it’s democratic centralism but the ISO leadership is up their own rear end and ossified as hell - and essentially unchallengeable due to institutional inertia, regardless of however they are theoretically elected within the org. when the org is a massive revolving door of college students, that’s the reality

a lot of it was over disagreements on not maintaining relationships with other socialist orgs, not working to build a socialist party, and generally seeming to be happy with the campus industrial complex status quo. also the complete failure to increase membership during the 2016 primaries, when the DSA ballooned. the ISO is doomed to irrelevance imo
