The empire is completely boned for the first season of Hyperspace. They could have at least let them use Sloane.

I just played my first game with Luke and 3x Blue Squadrom Escorts. It's drat good.

I was up against Deathrain, Vader, and Soontir. First shooting turn brought Deathrain to 2 hp left. Next turn Luke finished off Deathrain and Soontir ended up at range 1 and 2 of two X-wings and just evaporated. Next few turns were blocking Vader with low PS pilots while Luke tore him apart.

Anyone having any luck building a "Hyperspace Legal" list they like for FO or Resistance? I really don't think Kylo is worth the points at PS 5 and I am wary of running Rey/Poe since my brain is telling me 2 ships lists are bad and Poe doesn't feel right with Ion cannon banned.

Also, have a rules question. When do bombs detonate if they are dropped outside the device phase?

You aren't seeing heaps of them yet because not many people own four. That'll change now people know they are good.

Double-tap Dash and Quad phantoms was nowhere before Australian nats, now they are popping up all over the place.

Pretty much, they're amazing but people initially fixated on Whisper and didn't run four because it needs two kits and very few people owned more than two phantoms.

Quad Phantoms are obscenely good.

They aren't in Hyperspace so they will be short lived and they will surely get a point increase in January.

And yeah, we've been trying quad Phantoms for a couple months, and it's just unfair. I have no idea how they got released as is. The only thing that puts up a fight is Palob when he just doesn't roll any blanks. Even with the Aussie's finally showcasing it to everyone, they all went to Dash and not the Phantoms.

I almost always set up duchess in a position that lets me use duchess as bait. In the middle or in a fake joust position. The other two usually set up for flanking positions

I often try to put her slightly more than range 1 from a rock, facing that rock. You can then dial in a 1-straight and end up on either side of the rock in two different orientations: ailerons left/right before moving, or 1-straight without ailerons and barrel roll.

I'm finally pulling the trigger on getting into this game and i'm wondering about card sleeves. I've never had to buy mini sized sleeves before and i'm wondering how the FFG ones hold up quality and fit wise. For full sized cards i usually go with Ultra Pro Matte ones but they don't seem to have those matte minis and i've read that the fit isn't too great on their board game sleeves.

It is, but a pack of FFG sleeves is probably fine, it's not like a deck of MtG cards where you're going to be shuffling and handling them constantly.

Alternatively track down one of the pre-order full-size damage decks and you don't need to use small cards at all.

There is an Android app called "Dials for x-wing 2". You have to buy each faction seperately which is kind of annoying but it's a quick fix if you forget dials or can't be bothered with other manual methods.

Seeing as it looks like I may be able to hit 4 or 5 Hyperspace trials in the first half of the season I have been trying to come up with something that's not Boba. Honestly with the restrictions the only swarm people will see is a tie swarm so a 2 ship list may have a chance.

Here is my Rey/Poe any criticism is welcome.

Poe Dameron (68)
Crack Shot (1)
BB-8 (8)
Integrated S-Foils (0)
Black One (2)
Hardpoint: Torpedo (0)
Proton Torpedoes (9)

Rey (80)
Rose Tico (9)
Finn (10)
Rey's Millenium Falcon (5)

Total: 192

edit: I am guessing I would be right in assuming I can link an action off BB8's boost or barrel roll.

Almost the same thing I was thinking for a Poe/Rey list. Two ships are pretty dicey though, and I think you will see 4-6 TIE F/O swarms as well. You're correct on linking actions from BB-8, you can do anything, then do a blue, then take another action and link from it again if you want.

Trip Report! Finally back and somewhat rested from PAX. It was a pretty good weekend, though I'm still pretty exhausted. I managed to sneak into 32nd at 4-2 and snag the R2 target lock tokens, which are pretty cool. Played in the Hyperspace Qualifier the next day and only went 3-1, lost to a list that jousted me with Redline, who ate all 4 Focused/Evading Juke shots at range 2 and lived at 1 HP. Then lived the next round at 1 HP again. Feels bad to lose to rolls like that, but poo poo happens and I can get to at least the Atlanta event and maybe one more anyway. The venue was alright, though PAX apparently loves having crazy rear end lines to get in through security that barely glances at your stuff and just slows down the whole process. Made it impossible to go get any food during the event, and the onsite food was (naturally) insanely overpriced and pretty mediocre. The Best Coast Pairings app was not the best. Especially on Android. The rankings page didn't work at all, so you had no idea what your MOV was (which mostly didn't matter anyway, except for final rank) or who was placed near you, etc. Tabletop.to is better and free, and I really wish FFG/Cascade would use that instead. The judges really needed a PA or something to announce times and end of round, but I'm guessing that was a venue issue as well.

Prizes were super cool, I like the ticket system. 2 for each win, 1 for each loss. A lot of players on day 2 just farmed like crazy in pods to get a bunch of cards and tokens, and they didn't care at all, and didn't seem to have any supply issues. I grabbed a promo Luke, and one of the neat frosted plastic Guri's and Quickdraws, and I didn't have to do any crazy pod shenanigans. Feels good. Looking forward to some of the other events that aren't at a Con.

Edit: Also, the winner was Stephen Michel with a slightly unusual Empire list:

Two Scimitars with Barrage, Vermeil with Sloane and 0-0-0, and Whisper with Juke/Vader. The game is crazy close the whole way through, it's great. I assume it'll be up on Gold Squadron's page sometime soon.

I have no idea what's legal for hyperspace but I think R4 is better than BB8, and Rey would get good benefits from engine upgrade/C3PO. Pattern analyser on Poe is a nice upgrade if it fits too. Daredevil will be very nice if it works with his pilot ability as the second action without giving a second stress.

Can't do that. Poe links from a white action, treating it as red, Daredevil does the same thing, so you can't trigger both as the second one will be invalid.

I'm gonna put in some serious testing time with Poe with a core of R4, Title, and S-Foils. See how it feels. On paper it looks amazing. He'll fly like Soontir with more than 2x the HP.

Predator is probably a solid Talent, given his double reposition abilities and synergy with S-Foils. Heroic is probably a good idea, too.

If you want it Hyperspace legal, Debris Gambit is not available, just fyi. Not sure if people here generally care or will be playing the format, but I'm pumped for it. Lots of the broken poo poo is gone, and January should fix anything that's still in and is too good (looking at you, Boba/Marauder/Han). Poe and Kylo will be interesting additions, but I think they will both be less degenerate than Redline is currently, and there's always further points adjustments to help.

I know some people here were not interested in hyperspace, but it's got serious potential. One, to keep the newer factions on par with the old, but two it has real potential to be actually reasonably balanced. With 60+ ships in the overall pool, it's basically impossible for FFG to ever get extended balanced. With 21 ships in Hyperspace, that becomes a lot more reasonable to manage.

I love it and hate it.

Love it because it's a more even playing field for new players vs existing players--in theory, at least.

Hate it because the restrictions hurt Imperials a LOT. All of their archetypes are gutted except swarms--and those take a hit because Sloane isn't legal. Ace play is gonna be rough with only Vader and Duchess (who can't take Fifth Brother because he's not Hyperspace-allowed) as real aces.

Poe is gonna be a monster in this format. He's far and away the best ace ship available in Hyperspace, and aces are my preferred style of play.

I'm looking strongly at Poe + ??? builds for this format. Poe + Ello + that stress-based A-Wing dude (l'luo or something).

Yeah, I feel you there. I hadn't played anything but Imperials since 2e dropped. And it's definitely looking a little painful. But Vermeil, Sabaac, Countdown, and Duchess all are strong picks as well. Poe and Kylo are the only ships that are going to be truly awful to try and catch for I5 and lower pilots.

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go in on Luke and Wedge with ordnance or try Resistance or FO. Or even Scum, Boba + Fenn + Escape Craft is Hyperspace legal and super good still.

I think we'll still see big bids from FO for Kylo, but without Redline driving the bidding so hard I don't think other factions will try and dig that deep.
