One fulltime indie wrestler said they'd turned down a NXT tryout because they want to be working on television for good money, not taking lower pay and being seen by less people. Another said they think the talent pool is too deep for even WWE to buy everybody out, and they themselves are holding out from going there at the moment because they're making good money, but they're worried that when they inevitably do go that fans are gonna start calling them a sellout.

That's my basic takeaway, it leaves out a lot of extra detail written into the article (presuming I read the correct one, which was here
