 Fire Force is getting an anime. While I couldn't really get invested in the manga, hopefully the anime does a much better job and beings some cool music and animation to the table to spice it up.

Oh, I remember reading the first chapter of that and never getting around to the rest. Yeah, Ohkubo's style lends itself really well to animation.

Although I loved Soul Eater (It's one of my favorite Shonen series), I could not get invested in Fire Force. I honestly just found it to be a huge step down in terms of writing, worldbuilding, and characterization, though that might have changed after a couple of volumes. It at least still retains Ohkubo's clean art and great character designs. And the abilities and theming of the powers is interesting, at the very least.

I keep meaning to check it out since Soul Eater was good and also reasonably decent (at least as shounen goes) with female characters, but I keep forgetting to. The anime may be a good chance.

fire force also has a girl who has some sort of karmic curse that makes her unavoidably cause ridiculous fanservice scenes. where a normal person would trip and fall, she instead trips, slides out of her shirt and pants, and lands crotch first on the nearest teenage boy's face. despite how every other character acknowledges how bizarre and improbable that poo poo is, it's still pretty gross. so, it's not all good either.

I'm enjoying it a lot and it's up with Anime Yell and Double Decker as my favorite Second level shows. OTOH Release the Spyce while not bad is also not really selling me on it's stakes right now either
