OWB has left me extremely overpowered with fun toys for the rest of the game, should be a unique play though. I’m finally playing a character that can kinda do melee and I intend to try out stuff I’ve never used On that note, leaving big MT, I have 2500lbs on me and another 2500 in Novac. I’m thinking I’ll install one of those home base style mods, is there one y’all would recommend?

apparently a tale of two wastelands had a big update, what's the thread consensus on mashing 3 and NV together? Haven't played 3 since release and played NV a couple of years ago, pretty sure with J Sawyer's mod.

The writing in Fallout 3 is exceptionally dumb but it's still a fun environment to run around and shoot things in, and the changes that New Vegas brought about (The companion wheel, weapon mods, iron sights) are all really nice to have. If you've got a hankering to play Fallout 3 again, that's definitely the way I'd play it.

It's also basically the only way you can get Fallout 3 to consistently work on a modern machine. poo poo crashes all the time unless you run it through TTW, and that still has issues.

Took out Vulpes in Nipton this time, which I hadn’t don’t before. It was pretty easy once I jumped over to the roof of a nearby building and set up with my cowboy repeater. That repeater then pinged right off the Assassin death squad’s armor. Those guys are mean! But the grenade rifle fixed them. My biggest problem right now is that even after the patches and stability mods the game still crashes like a champ on Win10. Should I be running it with compatibility mode on? It’s that gross kind of crash where it locks the system and I have to restart.

Sounds like the anti stutter mod, the stutter mod is trash on 10, but you can edit the config to potentially fix it. Here's the changes I made that I took from the mod page's discussion posts: Set iDefaultMode to 3 under CriticalSections, ensure that bUseOverrides is 1 under the aforementioned section, finally delete "Spin = 6000" under the 3rd CriticalSection of the OverrideList. If it doesn't work make sure that the settings under Master are as follows: bManageFPS = 1 bHookCriticalSections = 1 bHookLightCriticalSections = 0 bHookHashtables = 1 bReplaceHeap = 1 bReplaceGetTickCount = 1 bLogToConsole = 0 bFastExit = 1 bFlushLog = 1 iSchedulingResolution = 1 bReplaceRandom = 1 bExperimentalStuff = 0 iMainHookPoint = 1

You could also use that sweet apartment full of robot buddies that you can teleport to from any place on Earth as a base. Just a thought. Sure seems like that was the intent of the place.

Eh, there’s one small ini tweak for Fallout 3 that needs to be applied and it runs fine on modern OS’s. TTW is still overall the better experience, but if you only want to play Fallout 3 as it was intended, this mod is not necessary.

TTW is worth it just to have the New Vegas perks. You can do a really fun radiation build that makes you near immortal since radiation is everywhere in 3.

What you can also do is combine Run the Lucky 38 and Lucky 38 Suite Reloaded, which lets you renovate the casino so it actually starts making you money constantly and gives you a huge suite full of upgrades. It pretty quickly becomes the most powerful player home, but both of them combined also provide you with some money sinks so you can finally start spending thousands of caps.

You're theoretically supposed to go through them in the orderish they were released but I've heard to switch it up, and am doing them in this order: Honest Hearts, OWB, Dead Money, then Lonesome Road. Usually people would say do Dead Money before OWB and I'm inclined to agree after finish OWB last night, but definitely do Honest Hearts first. Honest Hearts is like level 15ish so you'll be able to breeze through it. For Dead Money there are a bunch of Survival/Unarmed/Melee things I remember being really lame and frustrating but I can't give specific advice as I am about to start it now, and I'm just taking everything I could conceivably need within my weight limit, so that's what I'd recommend

OWB gets worse as you level up because of how the enemies scale, so don’t wait too long on it. The combat will still suck and be a huge pain but if you wait until later in the game it’ll be a bullet sponge nightmare.

Late in DM: Elijah: "A place far from here, called the Big Empty." Courier 6: "I've never heard of the place you're talking about." Me:

If you're just dragging and dropping something like a .esm file and the stuff that goes with it, it generally goes in the Data folder in your FalloutNV folder. You should see all your other mod .esm and .esp files in there.

The answer to everything strange about the Courier is brain damage, so I guess this means that bullet of Benny's carved a big empty spot in my memory of when I first learned about Big Mountain.
