Banged out 3 "powerful" engrams got 2 helms and a primary at 602. I don't mind grinding LL but they need increase to soft cap to 615/620, grinding heroic Red War story missions for +1/+2 LL so I can play the new content is disappointing but I still have fun shooting dudes. I enjoy the end game but I don't have time to grind like others do. Hopefully The Dawning has some 650 LL item/items(like Horror Story) to make this whole thing a little easier. The people who can grind 3 prime engrams every day are gonna blow through the new content regardless.

The 1 prime engram I got yesterday was +5. The rest of the powerful rewards I got were +2. That said, I haven't done any of the Dreaming City stuff yet and I think that gives better increases than the flashpoint, etc. e: Are the pinnacle guns powerful? If so, how much do they give? I'm close to getting several.

So, thoughts. I could easily chime and rhyme with everything everyone else is saying but after some rumination I think the folly here isn't all it's being blown up as and can be boiled down into two missteps. 1. LL increase should have started with the new season, last week. There's no getting around this. There would be absolutely nothing wrong right now if this had happened. Retarded it didn't. 2. Bungie should have established and reiterated that Black Armory (and ostensibly all Annual Pass content to come) is an Endgame release. That what lies within is the goal, not the starting point. I can understand not revealing this for reasons, but it stands that Bungie could and should have handled informing us in a better manner. Like always. Not a good look this week but I think the butthurt will subside once people get a Forge clear.

This definitely is going to be a heavy grind, fur real. I saved turning in my loaded question quest until yesterday, then did the gambit weekly milestone, the gambit weekly bounty, the ikora thing, the daily heroic, the daily crucible thing, and all the weekly DC stuff except the 8 bounties thing. I logged off at 607 if I put on all my highest stuff. I also got an exotic drop...of Suros regime. Still at 9/10 forsaken exotics.

I did what I always do, the old CoO "walk in from the entrance of the temple" thing, and walked into a group that knocked out two heroics in a row. I think I got lucky because a lot of people were having issues with matchmaking, but it IS possible to get a group. Doing it with a fireteam is absolutely going to be you're best bet.

I also soloed two tier 1's and no one ever joined. (yes, xbox, but a reddit post suggests it's happening on both consoles)

If you're really enjoying the game, yes. The expansion increases the level cap to 50 and adds a new single-player story, two new zones, and a good variety of endgame stuff for various levels of "hardcore"-ness. For reference, you can hit the maximum power level without ever raiding, if you're curious how hardcore you need to be to get enjoyment out of the endgame.

The various posts about how it's actually easy both here and on Reddit aren't helping matters because they're all like "Yeah you can totally do it if you're good at the game* *by which we mean everyone has their Whisper Catalysts, you have exactly the right class and subclass spread in your three-player fireteam, and you have some really good Y2 exotics that let you chain super-powerful supers" Like there's one super-upvoted post on Reddit right now going like, you can totally do this underleveled, here let me tell you how: <proceeds to describe a strategy that basically requires two Y2 exotics to be realistic> And I'm sure it is easy if you roll in there with a Geomag Warlock who also has Phoenix Protocol in his back pocket for when it's Well time, an Ursa Furiosa Titan, and a Shards of Galanor Hunter. I bet it's not tough at all if you're chaining mob-disintegrating supers like crazy and spitting out orbs everywhere.

The best suggestion I've seen so far is that the power cap should have been raised last week to coincide with the beginning of season 5. Had they done this, there would be plenty of 615 poopsockers and 605-610 casuals running around. I think they should have made a few things accessible day one like Forge 1 at 600 that goes up to 620 light for the boss Some new vendor stuff to look at An exotic quest starts And make it so all powerful gear drops at 600 minimum for people who aren't 600 yet so they can play catch up easier and give them a reason to want to get blacked army. Seems like a no-brainer with no downsides to the hardcore players and it brings more people who were mad about the last grind back.

I took a break from D2 with my highest character at 559. I figured I'd come back and catch up with my 600 friends when this dropped. Except not only do 600 players have to do the completely unchanged Forsaken grind to get a reasonable power level for the new content, but I have to do it for much longer because, if I'm reading things correctly, they only raised the soft cap to 550. That is intensely discouraging.
