These plea deals have been underwhelming. Nothing for Flynn, two weeks for Papadopoulos for what's basically treason for the first two and a few years for a lifetime of crimes for Cohen. Yeah, cooperation is a factor and all but these people sold out the country and they're getting off lighter than if they were corner boys.

Oh, and of course everyone involved is guaranteed a lifelong paycheck from various right wing grifts. Fox News contributor? NRA president? Time will tell.

Zero prison time for Flynn is master troll of Trump, because it negates the pardon, while still extracting maximum information.

I think it'd be best if Biden ran up the hype train, held Trump's attention, and soaked up as much hate as possible, before either stepping aside or getting genuinely primaried by an actually progressive candidate in order to blindside the Trump campaign. Kinda like how Obama ducked in under Hillary.

Trump works by repeating himself for months and staying on message. A bait and switch might knock him off balance, and it gives the Fox News apparatus and Russians less time to fabricate smear campaigns.

Who that progressive is in 2020, I don't know. Beto seemed like an exciting option, but the degree to which he's owned by fossil fuel money is cause for concern, given we apparently have 10 years to effectively bankrupt the lot of them, or die. I don't think that Biden is that answer either. 2016, maybe. Now? Another old white moderate liberal might not motivate the electorate enough to overcome the overwhelming advantage the GoP have due to gerrymandering and voter suppression.

I seriously think Beto is going to run. He met with Obama recently, and he only promised he wasn't going to run for president if he won in Texas. Since the election, he's been doing the "spending time with my family and reflecting" routine.

Wasn't aware of the fossil fuel money part though, that sucks.

Buzzfeed has been one of the best sources of journalism for at least the last 5 years or so. They were one of the first english-language news outlets reporting on the first chemical attacks in Syria. They're a group of skilled journalists being funded by a listicle farm and if that's what it takes to fund good reporting in 2018 I'm okay with it.

From my understanding of the issue, it's not one. Beto is listed as being one of the top recipients in Congress of oil and gas money, but keep in mind that includes donations from people who work in those industries, not just the companies themselves. Considering oil and gas is one of the top employers in Texas, it's not a huge surprise that he'd get a lot of money from that sector, and it hasn't stopped him from talking about climate change.

The difference between money from big oil vs money from individuals who work in big oil is huge and completely erased in campaign finance reporting. Yet another reason for campaign finance reform. Claiming Beto is owned by big oil is like the Twitter left version of the tea party doing their RINO screaming.

Quoting from offsite: "Historian Jon Meacham’s entire eulogy (GHWBush requested Meacham give the eulogy, and clearly entrusted him with this specific wordsmithing) was carefully crafted to shade Trump in every sentence. Never mentioning Trump by name, every word referred to something about Bush that was something specifically opposite Trump. He even mentioned GHWB’s “large hands.”

That shift right started as soon as he won the primary and the fact that all the same lanyards getting thigh cramps over him are the same ones telling AOC to sit down and shut up is all anyone needs to know.

Bernie is the compromise candidate and the entire party establishment must be destroyed.
