Tonegawa Ep 15 "I'm still the star here." made me grin I like the Ootsuki stuff but Tonegawa's antics are top notch. edit: The two of them getting locked into a pride battle over the pork cutlet bowls is awesome. ootsuki is outstaying his welcome, i enjoy watching tonegawa's genius struggling with the sheer mundaneness of his problems but ootsuki's gimmick hasn't changed from "get a 1 day pass then go eat food" hopefully that will change next episode, i really want more tonegawa in my tonegawa

Binged all of Tonegawa recently, and man that is good stuff. My favorite part was everything about Ebitani, he needs to show up in Kaiji as a gamble accomplice or something, he's the right kind of dumb. Also, anyone who hates on the narrator, the English, or the narrator's English is objectively wrong, I am always looking forward to hearing about how Tonegawa is the Teiai Corporation's NUMBAH TWO!!!!!!!!

I liked seeing Saemon's losing his cool for once but I'm disappointed that they used her in the most predictable way. Hyodo speaking english cracked me up. I miss the episodes when they were working on the death games, I feel the gags are better with a context like that instead of relying on generic workplace humor.

If you skip the first half it's probably the best live action anime adaptation ever made, but that first half mischaracterizes Kaiji pretty badly. It sets Kaiji up as a piece of poo poo who has constant violent fantasies and he's got a sick mom as an excuse for the decline in his life. It misses the point of the series from the get go and the ending only solidifies this more. The deadpool clown stuff is just an excuse to put in sick frozen time cgi demon slaughter and the movie literally starts with the "I bet you're wondering how I got here" cliche. It's pretty bad but its not a waste of time imo, it's Animal World on netflix if you're interested
