tbh, in as much as their basis for defending 9/11 truther stuff is "you can't just trust official stories" they're not really different in kind epistemologically speaking from your average Twitter ML going on about the State Department whenever someones says something bad may have happened in a Communist country.

There might be a better reason for skepticism in one case than the other, but they're not really engaged in a fundamentally different thought process. I mean, as far as most people are concerned, "Most of the things you think are bad about Communism are a CIA op!" sounds about as nuts as "9/11 was an inside job!" if not more. Dunno, maybe I figured you'd be a little more sympathetic given that.
