I also drove through northern illinois during the major snowstorm they got over thanksgiving weekend. The interestate slowed down to 40 mph between Chicago and Wisconsin! And there were a couple of fender benders safely on the side of the road. In the south there would've been a 100 car pile up.

I remember a few years ago I took a bus from Milwaukee to Madison after about 8 inches of snow had fallen, and the highways weren't plowed yet Travel time only took double what it would've been on a clear day. I wonder how that bus route would've handled 8 inches if it were anywhere further south
