Zanzibar Ham posted:I remember having a similar 'ultra fast movement' glitch in the first Planetside after getting a new PC, apparently it had to do with poor support for multi-core processors which were relatively new at the time. It also let you shoot usually slow-firing weapons super fast. I sent a report to the devs while really scared maybe they'll ban me for "hacking" or something. I had the same thing happen years later in some freeware deathmatch game, and decided not to even try to fix it and deleted the game because by that point there was just no excuse. I had this happen when, for some reason, I installed Windows 2000. Counter-Strike suddenly ran really loving fast. I had to crouch walk everywhere to not just speed past everyone. Real weird bug. It went back to normal when I went back to Windows 98.

What an incredibly good list. I loved the detector circuit that relied on weak electromagnetic interactions with circuitry on the board that wasn't even powered and only worked at the exact temperature of the lab setting. The number of AIs that just straight up cheated by falsely giving themselves credit for high score moves or peeked at information they weren't supposed to have were also good.

That one Tetris example does have a lot more to it other than Tetris, and the paper itself is 5 years old at this point, I wonder if you could use that program to speedrun some game using the input from the top speedrunners if you use time of completion as a reward metric. Like, turn the learning on the first day of an event like AGDQ and show off the results near the end of the show. Might be cool.

Hello Fallout76 it's been a while since we've seen you: today there was a patch for the game adding some much needed QoL stuff, and one of things it added was a FOV slider. However, since it's Fallout 76, the game will mess up your scope when turning to the lowest FOV of 70. I guess no one will ever see it, but I find it amusing that those things are connected: https://gfycat.com/rawdelectableantipodesgreenparakeet
