Trump is not going to shut down the gov because honestly he probably doesn't want it built. He loves gaudy monuments, but the wall would be such an expensive unmitigated disaster that no one will thank him for. Putter around, build some prototypes, use it as a bargaining chip that will never be cashed and blame the libs when it doesnt get funded

Look I know everyone likes to focus on the base, but 1.) The base isn't enough to win North Carolina, Colorado, or Maine, and 2.) Voters really hate shutdowns and blame whoever is doing it for partisan reasons even if they support those partisan reasons, as we saw with the DACA recipients. This is pretty clearly not going to end well for Trump.
