I never see how claims like this are materially different than claims trump is a 300D chess master. Maybe with some coat of paint that he's some sort of idiot savant that is good at literally everything but it's not praise because his body moves mindlessly to inevitably and unfailingly always win every situation, even ones that haven't happened yet.

Here's my defense of Manchin getting the committee chair: He's a senior Senator with a strong interest in the committee's area, which is usually the person who gets the chair. Plus he's important senator whose continued success and cooperation are vital for when RBG finally dies. "But his vote isn't important before 2020, he's in the minority and the Republicans have the votes." Yep, but those facts are also true about his committee chairmanship.
