Rageaholic Monkey posted:San Holo album still my favorite EDM album of the year because you get bangers but you also get guitar work like this, and honestly, what other EDM artist is putting in guitar work like this to play at clubs??? Plaid, since you happen to mention it.

Some good poo poo on Netsky's new EP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J8dP9dDVrs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sMVzJOLllM And Ookay's Nice! EP really surprised me by how it's just banger after banger after banger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuT4ufSz5I8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfYlihGbMf4 I thought his last album was pretty much totally unremarkable but this goes in a very different, darker/dirtier direction, one I'm way more into. After a couple listens, I'd even say it's one of my favorite releases of the year.

New Koan Sound album has some really solid, funky sounds on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rxhSyoupRQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uQsDneK6NI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6r9qxHg3qk I first heard of them like 5 years ago or more and I always forget how good they are! Album's reminding me a lot of Squarepusher, if that's your kind of thing. They put the whole thing on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8exbHh79Ts Rageaholic fucked around with this message at 08:48 on Dec 16, 2018 |

Just now stumbling across this thread. Have been in the D&B thread, the Electro thread and even the UK garage threads and none of those posts were really doing it for me, so kind of stopped checking. Seen posts about Rezz and Jauz, Skrillex/Joyride combo new stuff, so thought I'd share a bunch of stuff that I've been bumping lately (some new, some old). Kind of fall down the "night bass" genre a bit, but the bass lines were so groovy, I couldn't help myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUOFpAxdCY0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zocZhTGVJmQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZV9n8mQcuQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7Apned944k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z40eJqd8x7g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caGqOq1C84A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCsxkBlEmj4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apQT1wiTV6Y Bookmarked the thread and will keep my eye here for other recommendations. Fisher is on the lineup for the 2019 edition of the EDM festival I've been going to every year for the past several years, but I wasn't familiar with his stuff. Other artists on the lineup are Dog Blood (Skrillex + Boys Noize), Excision, Griz, RL Grime, NGHTMRE, Slander, G Jones, 1788-L and MOTHERFUCKING DEATH GRIPS. I've seen a few of them before, but I still want to see them again, especially Death Grips, who I wouldn't say really belong in this thread but they definitely have some EDM influences.

I heard Fisher's Losing It on Diplo's new XM radio, and explored and fell in love with Stop It. Each artist above has many many gems. Love a lot of AC Slater stuff, even some of his earlier poo poo. Shiba San's Okay is amazing. Would be cool to experience some live stuff, but as a guy pushing 40, its just not my scene. Love the music (it's all I listen to really, and only a couple friends enjoy it) and bump it to work, during work (if I'm able to), walking the dog, etc... Dog Blood eh....Skrillex And Boys Noize eh.... I think I have something else to explore. Edit, ok ya, I've definitely heard Dog Blood before, didn't realize it was a collab between the two... But now makes total sense. Boywunda fucked around with this message at 05:58 on Dec 18, 2018 |

I'm pretty new to EDM; I enjoyed stuff like Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers but never really delved in until we saw Bassnectar live for the first time in June for Freestyle Sessions (which was also my first EDM show in general). Now I'm addicted after moving to Denver earlier this year and being bombarded with good live bass music. Another person I got to see was CloZee and everyone should check her out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_KNbQFds48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEsmE6EUp1E Bone fucked around with this message at 01:43 on Dec 27, 2018 |

Hell yeah, I saw CloZee at a festival in March and she was dope. I'm all about more women getting into a scene that's traditionally male-dominated. That's part of the reason I'm so into Rezz. I mean she's mad talented, but she's also made a name for herself in a genre where most of the popular artists are guys. Alison Wonderland falls into that camp too. I don't listen to her stuff as often, but she's doing the drat thing. Elohim too!

I lucked out and got a reply from CloZee when she did a reddit AMA asking who her favorite female producer was. She said while there were a lot, she got started on Tokimonsta. Since then I've been super into Tokimonsta and it gives me a warm feeling inside that I'm listening to someone that Clozee personally recommended

Bassnectar, DJ Snake, Diplo, Rufus Du Sol, Zedd, Gesaffelstein, NGHTMRE, FISHER, Gryffin, CloZee, Ookay and more! Also they're streaming both weekends for the first time ever this year, so if you aren't able to go, there should be plenty of opportunities to catch some of these artists on the stream. (I'm most excited for Aphex Twin but I don't really think he belongs in this thread. He belongs in the long-dead IDM thread )

For the most part Diplo produces basic top 40 edm pop poo poo these days (gently caress it get the money), but he's actually really knowledgeable about a lot of different music and can throw down some pretty sweet sets when he really cares to.

This is the best Magnetic Man track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c-s5FtIXyw I feel like it was actively a mistake to put this on the start of the album because it makes the listener expect more than they actually get with that album which although is great, never peaks like this again. It's also the only track on the album that hasn't aged really poorly which is hilarious considering it's a classical track. Olympic Mathlete fucked around with this message at 16:30 on Jan 21, 2019 |
