Plaid, since you happen to mention it.

I thought his last album was pretty much totally unremarkable but this goes in a very different, darker/dirtier direction, one I'm way more into. After a couple listens, I'd even say it's one of my favorite releases of the year.

Album's reminding me a lot of Squarepusher, if that's your kind of thing.

Just now stumbling across this thread. Have been in the D&B thread, the Electro thread and even the UK garage threads and none of those posts were really doing it for me, so kind of stopped checking.

Seen posts about Rezz and Jauz, Skrillex/Joyride combo new stuff, so thought I'd share a bunch of stuff that I've been bumping lately (some new, some old). Kind of fall down the "night bass" genre a bit, but the bass lines were so groovy, I couldn't help myself.

These are doooooooope, thanks for the heads up! I hadn't heard any of these before.

Fisher is on the lineup for the 2019 edition of the EDM festival I've been going to every year for the past several years, but I wasn't familiar with his stuff.

Other artists on the lineup are Dog Blood (Skrillex + Boys Noize), Excision, Griz, RL Grime, NGHTMRE, Slander, G Jones, 1788-L and MOTHERFUCKING DEATH GRIPS. I've seen a few of them before, but I still want to see them again, especially Death Grips, who I wouldn't say really belong in this thread but they definitely have some EDM influences.

I heard Fisher's Losing It on Diplo's new XM radio, and explored and fell in love with Stop It.

Each artist above has many many gems. Love a lot of AC Slater stuff, even some of his earlier poo poo. Shiba San's Okay is amazing.

Would be cool to experience some live stuff, but as a guy pushing 40, its just not my scene. Love the music (it's all I listen to really, and only a couple friends enjoy it) and bump it to work, during work (if I'm able to), walking the dog, etc...

Dog Blood eh....Skrillex And Boys Noize eh.... I think I have something else to explore.

Edit, ok ya, I've definitely heard Dog Blood before, didn't realize it was a collab between the two... But now makes total sense.

It's funny how Skrillex's side projects are much more enjoyable for me than his music as Skrillex. I saw Boyz Noize live at a great club in San Francisco and it was one of the best shows I have been to. Everyone was dancing their face off and the room had amazing energy the whole night.

Just heard about them earlier this month when this came out, its an awesome album!

I'm pretty new to EDM; I enjoyed stuff like Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers but never really delved in until we saw Bassnectar live for the first time in June for Freestyle Sessions (which was also my first EDM show in general). Now I'm addicted after moving to Denver earlier this year and being bombarded with good live bass music.

Hell yeah, I saw CloZee at a festival in March and she was dope. I'm all about more women getting into a scene that's traditionally male-dominated. That's part of the reason I'm so into Rezz. I mean she's mad talented, but she's also made a name for herself in a genre where most of the popular artists are guys.

Alison Wonderland falls into that camp too. I don't listen to her stuff as often, but she's doing the drat thing. Elohim too!

For sure. I lucked out and got a reply from CloZee when she did a reddit AMA asking who her favorite female producer was. She said while there were a lot, she got started on Tokimonsta. Since then I've been super into Tokimonsta and it gives me a warm feeling inside that I'm listening to someone that Clozee personally recommended :3:

Tokimonsta's awesome too! Her story is really interesting. She had brain surgery and lost the ability to walk, talk and understand/create music. I can't imagine how terrifying and difficult that must have been for someone whose entire life revolves around music. But she was able to get past it and continued to create some really special jams!

Bassnectar, DJ Snake, Diplo, Rufus Du Sol, Zedd, Gesaffelstein, NGHTMRE, FISHER, Gryffin, CloZee, Ookay and more!

Also they're streaming both weekends for the first time ever this year, so if you aren't able to go, there should be plenty of opportunities to catch some of these artists on the stream.

(I'm most excited for Aphex Twin but I don't really think he belongs in this thread. He belongs in the long-dead IDM thread :smith: )

Speaking of synthwave, Perturbator's going on a US tour starting in April, and you should absolutely go if you're able to. He's not coming here this time, but I saw him in 2017 and his live show is energetic as gently caress. His stage presence is crazy too. He's like a mad synth scientist.

I feel like it was actively a mistake to put this on the start of the album because it makes the listener expect more than they actually get with that album which although is great, never peaks like this again. It's also the only track on the album that hasn't aged really poorly which is hilarious considering it's a classical track.
