So Auspol thread - as an Australian national working overseas and only visiting very occasionally, it is hard to get a handle on the feels of the politics like I used to. Is the new Labor government going to be a Hawk/Keating or a Rudd/Gillard?

We would be so lucky for either.

EDIT: If we're really lucky we'll get more left minor parties, but I don't think anyone is holding their breath for that.

And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

Eh, neither. It's not going to be much but on the other hand I think it'll at least be stable, unlike Rudd/Gillard.

I ain't ever seen a huntsman so much as spread its legs out, let alone haul rear end in a run which this little freak did, and it has that white and black pattern

If it is a huntsman I'm not as big a fan of 'em as when we'd name the ones in the cieling corners of our primary school classrom any more

They gave up on a direct attack. But it could be said that the drive to have a religious freedom bill which they haven't yet introduced for hilarious reasons is an attempt to get some freedoms to have a win in the deadly culture wars. They'll come back to it if they're in majority government some day.

The policy, to be unveiled on Sunday, would offer 15-year subsidies of $8,500 per year to investors who build new houses, with the taxpayer support conditional on the dwellings being rented to eligible tenants at 20% below market rent.

It's still a housing policy that is miles ahead of the LNP. Hoping for the best socialist paradise outcome every National Conference will just leave you disappointed. You need to manage your expectations and always hope for a policy in between Jeremy Corbyn and Paul Keating.

Dreams are hard left, reality is soft left.

That is until the siren song of revolution plays nation wide. Like music to my ears I open up my revolution cabinet and pull out a hatchet. My lawyer neighbour asks me what I'm getting up to. Revolution I reply as I throw the hatchet square in his face.

Anyway as I was saying. It's still better than the LNP and indeed by a fair bit.

Yes, but they wouldn't get as many properties out of it or be as dispersed as such a model as this can offer.

This sort of scheme isn't social housing anyway.

Yeah. It's obviously designed to offset public opinion on the changes to negative gearing.

The most efficient use of that money would be to give it to the community / social housing providers like they did in 2007/8 with the building stimulus.
