Honestly I don't get the love of the handheld mode but I mean it's there so whatevs. I've used the handheld mode like 3 times because the games I like on the thing are too busy for the screen to be that small or they are games I want to play for a long time. I don't care for long RPGs and stuff on the 3DS because I wanna play games on my couch or something and when I'm there, I have the choice between my 3DS and my consoles and the consoles are gonna win every time. The PSTV was good just because it let me play Vita games without using a handheld. Yeah that's right the Vita had good games

I don't have the time to figure out which one of the fifty different power supplies in my price range is the best. I have a job. I have poo poo to do. And I don't loving want to. You should be able to get a state of the art gaming PC for like £600. Just go in to a shop and buy one. Instead you have to juggle the pricing of fifty different things, all of which fluctuate insanely due to the whims of crypto currency and whatever else. No other consumer good is like this, it's dumb.

You can just go to the PC hardware SA thread, pick the recommended pieces for your price range and buy the whole thing online so it'll be assembled and sent to you. Yeah PC hardware is insanely overpriced right now for a variety of reasons, but figuring out what you should buy isn't much of a problem.

If you don't care about money that much, just buy one from a reputable brand? The price difference is going to minuscule, anyways.

Okay. The way things are right now it's better to buy prebuilt anyways. There's no reason to try and justify not wanting to do it by saying you don't have the time, which is ridiculous because it's a two hour task at max if you're being really anal about it.

You seem to think that "a separate machine for enthusiasts" is inherently a bad idea. But I mean it's just likes cars (lol it's a car analogy). Pretty much everyone can buy a stock car (console) and operate it without trouble, and never need anything more. Enthusiasts who want something different can either soup up and modify the car themselves ("building" your own PC), or pay a premium for someone else to do it if they want the product but don't have the knowledge/inclination to do it themselves (buying pre-built gaming PC). Walking into Walmart expecting a good gaming PC for not much money is walking into the used car dealer and enthusiastically believing everything the sales guy says. There is nothing wrong with this and it's in fact quite normal for many products in daily life. You could probably draw similar analogies to sports equipment, tools, patio decor art supplies, home appliances, etc. Pretty much anything that has a large base of casual users but deeper products for enthusiasts. If you want an advanced product but don't have the knowledge/inclination to go into yourself, either pay a premium for someone else to do that work, or step down the regular consumer grade. Pretty normal stuff. Meme Poker Party fucked around with this message at 18:52 on Dec 17, 2018 |

I am not a wizard. I am a stupid man who wants to play games at 60FPS with a mouse and keyboard. The ps4pro does 4K, sometimes even at 60fps, right? £350. I understand economies of scale and streamlined production pipelines and the coding benefits of uniform hardware. I understand this. It still seems ridiculous to me that in this late capitalist nightmare we live in I can't just buy a thing for a reasonable price. If a video game has anime art styling it is absolutely going to be a bad game. This obviously includes most (all?) JRPGs.

Also, switching one setting to enable faster RAM timings/overclock your RAM automatically doesn't seem like the most challenging task. Building your own computer is for enthusiasts, if you don't want to think about that type of stuff, a pre-built or a console are fine choices. It is odd, the Windows-PC gaming unholy union. Like, Windows is getting bigger and more invasive. There are considerable system resources (especially storage) that's getting sucked up just for Windows's junk. My PC is 100% a video game device. Well, maybe 95% video games and 5% porn. So it's odd that there isn't a way to play video games on a leaner platform like how consoles operate. Though, I guess Xbox will be running a very small version of Windows 10 or something? I don't know.
