Also, I think the first season ended with World War I and a suggestion that the family would be annihilated by it? Am I misremembering or did the show abandon those ideas?

It was just kind of standard and unremarkable outside of some cool camerawork here and there.

That being said, I had a good time and the ending was unconventional.

Yeah... not crazy about that. The Hellboy makeup looks like a DTV imitation of the original, Harbour sounds... not as charismatic as Perlman. I like the look of Ben Daimiyo.
