Trump is, being the embodiment of everything lovely about the '80s but now worse and more senile, imagining something like Reagan's Star Wars but with gold leaf Trump branding, I'm sure. Technically only weapons of mass destruction are banned in space. A nation could put say a gun platform in orbit but no one has because once one nation does everyone will.

This is correct, and also why the statement is absolutely loving idiotic. Also, the best skill players aren't looking to die in forever wars, they're looking to get paid in the NFL and thus go elsewhere. The best team of players assembled from the military would lose by triple digits to the worst team in the NFL. Probably to their practice squads as well.

Lycus posted:Shoot other country's satellites, maybe? I'm not a space warrior, so I don't know if that would easier from the ground. The reason not to weaponize space is that it isn't too difficult to put 5,000 tons of rocket fuel under a conventional bomb with a few tons of nails and scrap metal and point it straight up. It explodes and now there's millions of bits of metal swirling about in LEO shredding any satellite of any kind essentially forever. This is a thing North Korea or Pakistan or Iran could do right now, and it would end things like weather satellites and cell phones and cable TV along with all the spy/laser satellites up there. Creating laser space platforms that give you one-sided nuclear capability is a good way to provoke a lower-tech country into hitting the "gently caress it" button and doing just that. It sucks we can't make Macross real, but it's a cost I'm willing to pay to have porn beamed directly to my phone.
