 Deadfall Adventures Part 4: Arctic Caves Sorry it's been a while, here is part 4, Arctic Caves. I really like this one because it has a sizeable totally optional area, and a lot of visual variety as it goes on. I hope nothing has gone wrong, I checked it before uploading and it seemed in sync.

Sonic Adventure DX Tails' Story  This and the next few stories are nearly as short as Big's, lasting only around an hour-and-a-half, so they'll only be two parts each. Luckily Tails' story is a highlight, emphasizing the speed even more than Sonic's by making every level a race with plenty of boosters and opportunities to cut corners. He also, shockingly, has a character arc?! (Such as it is.)

I've been too busy to record more Deadfall (as the next level I need to record is really hard), so I figured I'd add an easy project to fill the gaps: What Remains of Edith Finch Part 1 Welcome to my newest LP, What Remains of Edith Finch. I played this a few days ago and really loved the presentation, but most commentary would conflict with the style of the game (text commentary would distract from the onscreen text effects and voice overs would interrupt/drown out the voice acting) so this is my compromise. Commentary specific to the video will be in Spoiler tags This is a really imaginative game that I'm happy to show off. I love the presentation, like how many of the subtitles are baked into the scenery in a visually interesting way. In this vid I did forget to turn around, there is a Missing poster for Milton on a tree behind the game's starting position, but I saw a lot of foreshadowing and text that I missed the first time so that's nice. I love the way this intro starts things off, with a slow approach to the bizarre architecture of the Finch household leaving a striking first impression, then seeing just how weird it gets up close. Creeping through the cat flap adds an air of unease to the proceedings, there are no other entrances so any normal means of entry is denied us. The dwelling is abnormal and off kilter, so our makeshift entry is the same way, with a garage who's interior feels as scattershot as the rest of the building, then all the sealed doors (especially the one with the book-arch) add to the feeling of unease. One of the more common visuals in horror is a sealed entrance or a door that leads to a layer of bricks, so it plays on those conventions nicely. Also the way we get into Molly's room via a secret passage known only to Milton and Us feels very mysterious, like we are stepping into an Enid Blyton book. Next time, we will explore Molly's room and find out what lies in store.

What Remains of Edith Finch Part 2 - Molly's Story The first of the Finch Family Tree. We learn about Molly, who died of eating Holly Berries after being sent to bed without dinner. I like the way her story is told, with the escalation of her hunger that starts with eating more sensible things, like looking for her candy stash, or eating half a carrot, then progresses to eating toothpaste and eventually the fatal berries. Then just gets more ludicrous from there, with a live bird and rabbits, ending as a sea monster eating humans. A lot of the stories do that, taking an aspect of their deaths and playing it up visually in an interesting way, and it's rather cool.. Deadfall Adventures Part 6: The Mines This level is simultaneously one of my favourite and one of my least favourite, due to really challenging (in a fun way) fights, and a really challenging (in a bad way) collectible. Also the minecart sections own. It also leads into the final chapters of the game, although the head Russian does just disappear at the end of the level which is weird.
