Eggs are basically lootboxes, but you've got to work for them before you get a poo poo reward. It's such a terrible system that maybe worked when the game came out (Pidgey and Rattata aside), but egg pools are just clogged with useless poo poo and the Gen 4 rollout is just a pathetic trickle compared to the well done Gen 3 rollout that it's annoying a lot of people.

It’s frustrating to have Niantic to be able to coast by just due to having the Pokemon property. Two years in and we finally have something resembling a real game.

With the slow trickle of gen 4 releases, I stopped caring about dex completion. With gen 3 I tried to catch as many new pokemon as possible before the next wave was released. The waves of releases provided a sense of pacing to pokedex completion. I know that's not really possible with gen 4 since most of the new pokemon are evolved from previous gens or legendaries but it still sucks. Also knowing that future community days could render otherwise strong movesets obsolete I haven't evolved any of the gen 4 starters and I'm trying not to evolve anything with a high max cp that doesn't have a shiny released unless I have a specific use for it, like to use against a specific raid boss or in PVP. Otherwise I don't see the point of evolving something just for the dex entry.

I heard EX raids get cancelled sometimes. Is there any way at all to predict a cancellation so I don't make out-of-the-way plans that get wasted?

This guy was loitering outside my house this morning, no where near water with sunshine weather. I never really see these things, so hitting a good trade right on the spot in one shot is always cool.

I got my first ever invitation to an EX raid from my first ever 5 star raid the other day. Missed out on catching Lugia, so I hope the Deoxys raid on the 29th doesn't get cancelled.

I mean part of why I'm asking is I heard you get 50 large in dust and 5 raid passes if they cancel and given the bother involved in getting to my raid I think I might rather see a cancellation.

What's a Mewtwo trade typically worth? Never had one and need one for dex/raiding and want to know what to expect
|
# ? Dec 25, 2018 21:47 |

It depends. I traded a Mewtwo to two of my friends who could never get a pass for one so I took small poo poo in trade. Most people want shinies or legendaries.

I swapped mine for a shiny swablu and the guy was certain he was ripping me off. Any non-community day shiny would do it, I think. If you’ve got any decent old pokes that are guaranteed lucky, that might do it. And I’ve had people offer my pick of their dex for my guaranteed lucky shadow claw/shadow ball gengar.

Soulex posted:What's a Mewtwo trade typically worth? Never had one and need one for dex/raiding and want to know what to expect Trying to put a value on something in a game where the trade system is practically useless due to the high currency cost and the fact that you can only do one for one trades doesn't really work out. On top of that, the Mewtwo you end up getting is more likely to be reduced to garbage than keeping good stats unless you can force a Lucky trade by throwing a july/aug 2016 monster at it with less than 10 luckies on either yourself or the other person. It would still be useful even then simply because it is a Mewtwo, but wasting hundreds of thousands of dust for a weak version of a pokemon that will inevitably return at some time in the future is wasteful. You should probably just not worry too much about it. Eventually you'll find someone who has literally dozens of mewtwos because they raided 10 times a day during the month it was in all 5 star raids, and become ultra or best friends with them and just get one for whatever. Or wait till it comes back to raids.

# ? Dec 25, 2018 23:06 |

Yeah, the Mewtwo will be virtually worthless to anyone who raided a bunch during that time. It's the dust you'd be paying for cause hoooooooooly poo poo that's a lotta dust.

I was looking for a shiny Murkow and only one dude had one for trade; despite me helping him in the past, he didn't want anything I had to offer. Ah well. Then I got lucky; another gent is desperate for a shiny Geodude; I have two. He said he'd give me his shiny Snubbel and Murkow and a Munchlax for him. I told him just the shiny Murkow would make us even. He wants the shiny geodude bad. But gently caress, I am not gonna take two shinies for one (even if they'd be another trade, you know).

You can only trade one shiny or non-dex pokemon per day.

The July/August 2016 Pokemon you have makes whatever you trade it with a guaranteed lucky as long as you've had less than 10 lucky Pokemon. Click here for their post about it. I think the confusion for some people is that they expected both players to get a lucky Pokemon. Some trigger-happy traders who already had more than 10 lucky Pokemon and are going for a lucky dex completion jumped at this announcement, asked people with July/August 2016 Pokemon to trade with them, and ended up not getting lucky Pokemon and got upset for not reading correctly. If you met someone like this and you still have less than 10 lucky Pokemon, don't get pressured into trading with them unless they're going to trade you a shiny or something worthwhile that YOU can get a lucky on. Otherwise you'll burn through your guaranteed luckies if they want something specific while trading you garbage. I waited until I got Best Friends with my alt and traded over a shiny Hondour to my main with a July/August '16 Pokemon and it rerolled from an 81% to an 87% lucky.

I had my brother's account trade me 10 things from July 16' when I already had prob 30 or 40 luckies, and every trade was still a lucky for me. Maybe it wasn't working properly when the feature was first announced or something.

Well, they are added to the pool of possibilities, so they're two of eight Pokemon and you only get four rolls of the dice in the month. Plus we don't know yet if the research ones can be shiny like the raid ones were. I feel like a big idiot because I got a shiny Snorunt and evolved it not knowing 1) Glalie is ugly as poo poo, 2) Glalie's shiny is remarkably low-effort, and 3) Froslass exists and the Snorunt was female. What I wouldn't give for a way to devolve a Pokemon right now. Well, shiny Froslass doesn't look very different anyway, I guess.

Yeah, I need a Ho-Oh and if I had timed it to get 5 rolls (I turned in a research today, so if I miss even a single day I can't get five) I'd still only have a 49% chance to get at least one Ho-Oh. With four rolls that's a 41% chance, with three it's a 33%.
