Carpenter Brut is also super loving awesome live. I flew to Vancouver this April specifically to see the band. It was worth every penny. And yes to Gunship, Laserhawk, Perturbator. They're all really fun and the videos tend to be either awesome retro future weirdness or schlocky horror and either way it's badass.

The Knight Rider theme has been my ringtone for many years now. It sounds lame when I tell someone, but it puts a smile on lots of faces when strangers hear it.

I suppose we could be gushing about synthwave in the Synthwave Thread instead, but gently caress it I maintain that the best synthwave album to date is still Near Dark by Dance with the Dead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f25R9Gl6FWc EDIT: I mean gently caress, it's synthwave with guitar riffs and solos added, how could anyone not love this poo poo Nordick has a new favorite as of 03:41 on Dec 24, 2018 |

To bridge the gap a little, Gost made a bunch of synthwave and also started making metal influenced electronic music like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjRUjGH3MtI I post that because the video was directed by Gretchen Heinel, a badass hook suspension practitioner who did one of the darkest performances I’ve seen. With a live metal band playing for a soundtrack, she and another woman did a bloody suspension/piercing show that was more like a disturbingly beautiful horror movie than a Native American sun ceremony. They looked absolutely possessed. I’m not sure the video captures it well but here’s the show, for nudity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oto170_vMgg E- oh duh, for hooks through knees and most other parts of the body

I almost bought a JP8000 for myself for Xmas thanks to this video. Getting old has it's benefits. Being able to afford all the old synths I wanted when I was a teenager is pretty great.

It seems like I've stumbled on the Synthwave thread but I haven't seen anyone mention some of my favorite driving music Miami Nights 1984. https://youtu.be/hguNer9FT2w https://youtu.be/nLzjm9E1hwg There's nothing like blasting down the PCH in my '81 Vette blaring this stuff. The whole neros77 channel is amazing and a great way to find contemporary Synth bands.
