Michigan had a really bad 1st quarter against ND, and ND took a lead that Michigan wasn't able to catch up to. That game would have gone Michigan's way with more experience.

Notre Dame, like in 2012, got to the playoffs by dodging weaker punches during the season, only to get punched in the face in a bowl.
