you can blame the rich all you want, just don't confuse assigning blame with analyzing what structural weaknesses were exploited and need to be fixed

You can’t not look at who is to blame when class politics are at the root of the issue. If you don’t have a plan for keeping rich people from tainting the goal of Make Rich People Less Rich, then they’re gonna loving do it again. And you won’t be able to do that without assessing blame, which will be helpful both from a process perspective (“We won’t hire economists paid for by the Koch brothers.”) as well as political perspective (“the Koch brothers are wealthy because you are not, voters.”)

The structural weakness cannot be fixed without the understanding of who created and keeps creating the problem, which is not about an independent, nameable group of actors you blame, because that lets the ruling class as a whole off the hook.

No war but class war.

It's not a self-own if Pelosi gets exactly what she wants out of pay-go: a rotating villain that isn't tied to a particular member of Congress that can take the blame when Dems claim that better things aren't possible, and a way to placate corporate donors at the same time.

The upside is that Dem stunts like this are being called out by the newer members of Congress, and Dem pols are having a harder time pretending they're for things like M4A unless their actions actually support those things, as in opposing this particular rules change.

Trump, always wise, answered the reporter's third question, as to how long it would take to remove the US military presence in Syria: In Mexico is the Border Wall, which is mostly built and steel slats and see-through. Every 100 days, the government shuts down sharpening its budget on that wall. When the whole of Washington is overflowing with garbage, then the first second of Infrastructure Week will be over.

Long time no see.
Frankly, as an outside observer, I am still a bit in awe at the entire concept of a government shutdown. The idea that a government can be legitimately in power without the basic ability to agree on how to fund its operations is wild. That the US system defaults to "shut down government operations" instead of "bring down the government" in such a case is even more insane.

Honestly the debate happening here about "rich people" misses an important point, and that's because the posts I've seen thus far only talk about how to deal with that problem under the system of laws in this country. To that idea I say: good loving luck. Stuff like the Panama Papers and other similar leaks over the last few years should have demonstrated that there's a level of wealth you attain where laws of a particular country no longer apply to you. Not sure how you combat this without the whole Western World coordinating together and even then, not sure how best to crack that nut.

No, DHS is alleging that people are banding together who are not related at all, in the hopes that they can convince the US that they are families so they'll be treated like families, ie: released... but then disappear into the countryside like contra trainees.

Part of this is a culture that worships rich people as if they're God figures. That's part of what lets them skate by when they rob or defraud people. The common folks want to be free to rob and defraud when they're rich too.

We uh, really need to have a concrete 25th Amendment discussion. I mean no joke. He's not well. What condition he has I can't be sure of but those are not the words of a "all is well!" man.
