What's the story about iPhone eSIM activations? I asked in online chat to migrate my physical one to the eSIM in my XS; and I was told that they couldn't do that. My options given were that they could only either move another existing line I have onto the eSIM, or sell me a new line to put onto it. Does the system still see it as the same device, and not let you do a switch as a result?

Your travel SIM provider would need to be a carrier that supports Dual SIM Dual Standby as well I believe, and I’m not sure how great the benefit of having both is. If you’re roaming internationally with your Verizon SIM/eSIM active using something like TravelPass why would you want a 3rd party SIM, and if you don’t roam with Verizon the only benefit of not temporarily removing your Verizon SIM and swapping with the travel one is that I assume just disabling an eSIM won’t pull the number out of iMessage like removing a SIM does.

Either way, it’s newer , so there will likely be bugs out the gate. One other thing to note: not sure if eSIM does 3G at all, so if you’re signing up for it you’re probably signing up for LTE only. That should be fine overall, and in about a year won’t matter, but good to consider.

I have a "bring your own" iPhone 7 (and later added an iPad) on the NEW VERIZON SINGLE SMRTPHN 5GB plan. Will I lose this plan if I buy a new iPhone from Apple and bring it over? This plan is $10+ cheaper than their replacement 4GB plan so I'd like to keep it.

So I am looking to buy a phone for work to be used by one of our remote employees, but not as much as a phone but more for the hotspot functionality. As such we will be starting a new line (the company's first) and getting a phone with it. The #1 requirement is of course going to be hotspot functionality and we'll need a plan with it. Data usage will be fairly low overall and bandwidth requirements are not a priority in part because it'll mostly just be updating small spreadsheets to our network and I expect that oftentimes the employee will be on the network fringe anyways. Priorities for the phone: 1) Hotspot Capability/reliability 2) Battery Life 3) Drop/damage protection options Something that doesn't get *too* hot while doing this would also be a plus.

The question is are you expanding devices in the future? One line for business plans is the same as consumer plans, $90 for unlimited and 15GB of hotspot. Once you get to 4 lines (phones, tablets, doesn’t matter), you can sign up for business unlimited, which is $45 a line for that same plan. Insurance is $9 a month for Total Equipment Protection. Let me know if you have any questions, I work with business accounts like that all the time.

The bus unlimited plan essentially gives you beyond unlimited for go unlimited pricing once you get to 4 lines. You can move to it at anytime. Keyser_Soze posted:Thank you Duckman! It worked well after my Pixel shat the bed. Battery life was way better than the Pixel but the camera was garbage. Let me know if you are interested. The Z3 was $100 off at Verizon (over 2 years), not at work so not sure if that ended on Christmas or not. The G6 is definitely really good for its price.

Is there a way for me to have Verizon as my eSIM and then leave my SIM card slot available when traveling internationally? I would like to disable my Verizon eSIM ($10 a day get outta here) when traveling and using a local SIM card, then enable it when I get back to the US. Is that possible to do?

I actually am using my XS as an eSIM on Verizon now, works fine. So I could pop in another SIM as you are referencing and just use that instead when traveling. Call or go into a store; to do it they have to provision the eSIM IMEI to your phone number. They then send you a link and your phone provisions to the right number. I’m off tomorrow, I’ll try and update the OP with eSIM info.

Why would I want to do that though? I am traveling to Italy in April and planned to just swap sim cards when I'm over there to make sure I'm not charged $10 a day and actually have enough data to use. Is it just so I don't have to worry about losing my sim car while I'm over there?

One reason for iPhone users is that when you remove and replace a sim with a different one, the phone as I recall deregisters the original number with iMessage and everyone will switch to normal text messages which won’t be delivered until you get back unless you use Verizon’s messaging app.

Good reason. Iphone X. I was thinking since iMessage uses data it would work no matter the sim, kinda like it does if you are on WiFi only. Anything else I should watch out for when putting in a foreign sim?

Main reason to do dual SIM I assume is emergencies. And in theory receiving calls doesn’t charge the $10 a day, it’s as soon as you do an outgoing call, text or data. Whether you trust it to not accidentally do that is another question.

Has anyone recently bought a Verizon phone from Best Buy that was on sale? I know purchasing direct from Verizon, if something is on sale they give you a bill credit every month over the course of 24 months. I've heard conflicting things about buying from Best Buy though - do they apply the credit that way as well? Or is it all at once when you purchase the device?

The unlocked version you paid the sale price up front, and could get 18 months no interest if you used the BB credit card. The Verizon Note 9 worked exactly like it does in the Verizon store.

The pixel 3 is definitely fancy, but I'm frustrated that my charging cable world is turned over again. Can I find usbc cables that have one USB end, for charging my phone off my PlayStation or chargers I already have? My last phone used that fast charging gimmick but it seemed to kill a couple devices I used them with, are those chargers off limits? I thought of all this poo poo two minutes after I left the drat mall

Grab some Amazon Basics or Monoprice cables with USB-A on one end and USB-C on the other. None of your old fast charging stuff will fast charge the Pixel. However there’s a fast charger included in the box. If you want more, look for a USB-C charger with “power delivery” like this one. There's a C/C cable in here, along with a female A/male C adaptor, so along with the miscellaneous cables I've got lying around I can probably make this work by picking up a couple A/C cables for the random places in my house I end up sitting with my phone. They actually threw in a car charger because I bought a case and screen protector, so that might be ok. I'm probably most offended by the lack of an audio port but I guess that's the thing now (plus it came with a little adaptor, plus get some Bluetooth headphones already sheesh). I'll shelve the old fast chargers I have out of an abundance of caution. As for the 2.0s I've collected over the last few years, heck, now I have a couple ten foot dedicated PS4 controller wires.
