5. Dow goes back up to 26,000. You are now at the break even point and are back at 100% of original investment (neglecting continued contributions for easy math). I'm at 122.2% of my original investment.

Yes, there is risk that I misjudge when to leave or come back in. You never do this in the short term, but if I have a reasonable evidence that the market is going into a recession at some point within the next year or so, the numbers tell me to move my 401k stocks to 401k securities or money market and wait for the fall to happen. Please explain to me what I'm missing.
