That beta site doesn't appear to have the exclusion search that I need, so it's not much help :/

These are normally people that just buy into the old "He's rich, therefor everything he does is a masterstroke of business". I mean the ones that are genuinely impressed and aren't just praising it because "Trump r me president *drool*". He's managed to frame himself as a great businessman mainly because every time he crashed he had daddy or someone to borrow a shitton of money from and bolster his fuckup while riding class 11 bankruptcy regulations which pretty much just wipe the debt slate clean and hammer his credit rating a bit. The ultimate irony of all of this is that in his effort to feed his ego and be the most popular guy ever he hosed his brand name over for generations down. His brand now is poo poo, Ivanka's brand name is poo poo, and for the forseeable future anyone else born to the family will have a poo poo brand name. He's pretty much wrecked his dynasty

Squalid posted:Five billion was what Trump wanted for the wall this year though no? you're not wrong, but 5B-for-the-wall was never on the table as a trade for DACA. instead, republicans were hoping to revive the grand bargain of 25B-for-DACA the five billion is what trump wants for his gently caress-you-there-is-no-quo tantrum lol. as the Post reported, his underlings are trying to get Dems to give like two point five billion as a compromise, but since Trump has repeatedly said he won't accept anything less than 5, Schumer and co have been basically ignoring those offers.

BRAKE FOR MOOSE posted:Precisely. I was posting here in support of the DACA for wall deal when it came up, but not now. I can still stomach wall funding for the right concessions, but the previous deal should stay dead, it's not enough. In my opinion, if there was a deal (I'm not convinced any would be a good idea at this point), it would have to bring a significant increase in legal immigration/asylum seekers into the US. So basically there can be funding for construction of a wall, but if an asylum seeker shows up at the border they're let in and treated well and ordinary migrants who want to work in the US are also let in and given a path to citizenship. Plus also significant reduction in deportation obviously. That still may be a bad idea since Trump would 'win'. The bad part of constructing a wall is the inherent racism of it and the extent to which it would prevent people from entering the US. So in order for there to be a wall we'd have to make entry to the country not racist and easy. Of course that will never happen so I guess I'm saying that there shouldn't be a deal.

(and its not just about the money, its a racist monument that would discourage a chunk of our base for a while, it would give Trump a "win", etc) Yeah, except I would need all that poo poo upfront. None of this gentleman's agreement bullshit. I would also want massive Investment in green energy production, expanding the mandate of the EPA and putting protections and regs into law so they can't be overturned by chuds, massive amounts of cleanup funding for Superfund sites(especially the nuclear facility in Washington/Oregon because its going to leak into the Columbia River soon), funding the criminal investigation wing of the IRS and setting them loose upon rich tax cheats. Pressure on D.C. to lift its building height laws would be a nice to have too so cost of living can be driven down in the area. Also, investment in affordable housing and reparations for redlining and demolishing middle-class minority neighborhoods(to build the interstates). These reparations can be interest-free loans, government subsidies for minority home buyers, loan forgiveness, etc. Also, I want Wells Fargo burned to the ground. The constant shafting of PoC preventing them from accruing any kind of equity or wealth needs to loving stop and some serious reparations need to be made by this country. These are just a few things off the top of my head.

The chuds like to argue against this by saying "You're just picking on him for the few bankruptcies he's declared, he's had hundreds of successful business ventures!" In response I like to tell the story of MacGregor the old Scotsman. MacGregor walked into a bar one evening, ordered a drink, and sat there looking melancholy until the bartender asked him what was wrong. "You know that barn out back of my house?" MacGregor said. "Built it with me own two hands, but no one ever calls me MacGregor the barn-raiser." After a second drink, MacGregor continued, "You know the dock on the lake outside a' town? I built that dock too, but no one ever calls me MacGregor the dock-builder." After a third drink, MacGregor groused, "But God...you gently caress just one goat, and..." I don't care how many successes Donald Trump has had, it's his failures that mark him as an incompetent boob, and when you bankrupt a loving casino that is the financial equivalent of loving a goat. He will forever be Trump the goatfucker.
