If you haven't read the books, they end very differently. We don't find out what was in the sugar bowl, for instance, and Beatrice doesn't meet up with Lemony, so he never gets closure on the Beaudelares story. The IDV showing up at the outrigger with the apple doesn't happen either, and the kids wait a few more years before leaving the island--the implication being that they intentionally waited for the world to end before returning to it. asecondduck fucked around with this message at 19:44 on Jan 4, 2019 |

I enjoyed the first 6 eps of Unfortunate Events s3 but then The End felt really rushed and confused. Maybe the books do a better job of setting up some of the tonal changes.

The books don't have a tonal change, they went for a somewhat more positive ending in the show. Whether or not that was the right choice idk.

I think my favorite episode of S3 was the first part of the hotel story. The writing was very snappy and I really liked the part where you get to the end of Sunny's section and realize that there was a third brother.

I just went down a YouTube hole with the Masked Singer videos and it's such a weird and kooky premise. I could actually see myself enjoying it except (a) the judges were annoying as gently caress and (b) how in the world is it ten episodes? Maybe it's coming off the Christmas season and all the one off specials of that time of year but I could see myself just sitting down for one or two nights and enjoying this, especially with others. But ten episodes/weeks? Seriously? I had a kind of similar feeling when I watched a bit of the Titan Games tonight. Kinda cool premise, I can get behind watching jacked people with quick stories doing silly impossible poo poo for a bit. But then I saw it was two hours and I started to wonder what the actual time sink in this is and if it could really hold my attention that long and decided to bail and revisit another time. I suppose people have been sitting watching hours of American Idol and Bachelor and Dancing With The Stars and whatever for so long that it's probably like complaining about super hero stuff. It's not even really a genre I havent enjoyed. I've watched the Voice and Ninja Warrior before. Just an odd night where I wandered outside my usual zone because both shows are kind weird in an interesting way. STAC Goat fucked around with this message at 09:23 on Jan 5, 2019 |
