Can confirm. My coworker is former army NG and he's creepy as fuuuuuuck.

It's a shame we live in the timeline where the element known for its occurrence in bananas is named potassium and the made-up pot substitute is bananadine.

No joke, there are crane operators who aren’t afraid of tipping slightly. One old guy tried to debate me over the phone about whether or not our practical exam was worth anything because he said he took an exam in Puerto Rico where the test was to let the crane tip off one set of outriggers and balance it. I told him that was insanely dangerous and almost definitely not true. He never ended up certifying. Guess he’s that dude now. http://mockwa.tumblr.com/post/181676175150 Russians trying to break up a dog fight around a spinning PTO shaft.

The Lone Badger posted:The schoolyard scuttlebut back when I was a we'un was that the book had been deliberately sabotaged to be useless and dangerous to the user. I haven't actually looked back at the Anarchist's Cookbook since I was a teenager, but iirc the simple explosives are correct, and the phone phreaking stuff would have worked when the phone company used the old systems that were vulnerable to it. No idea about the drug recipes. Obviously the chemistry, even if correct, is dangerous because they are recipes for bombs and/or you are making something on the stovetop out of industrial chemicals and then eating it. The one I remember coming up all the time on the schoolyard was Fight Club's recipe for napalm, which was changed to be useless ("gasoline and frozen orange juice") but which all the other 13-year-old JDs repeated as fact. The one in the Anarchist's Cookbook does make something similar to napalm, though it's not chemically identical to what the military uses. Hi FBI. The jack is already off-center because they can't put it on the driveshaft, and unless it can extend much further than that it can't tip the truck over. If the load is unbalanced you'd just get too much ground pressure on one or more tires for a human to turn it.

TTerrible posted:Yeah, melt styrofoam until it turns to jelly. I did that once as a kid and used it to set off some M60s in the woods. Which would have been an incredibly dangerous fire hazard if it wasn't for the foot of snow on the ground, and the bit where we stuffed the M60s in the bottom of a snowman and blew it up using a line of napalm as a fuse. So it was just regular dangerous. It was also Montana, so these were fireworks we found on the side of the road, along with a bunch of bottlerockets and roman candles. The sheriff lived in that sub-division, so we think they were probably dumped when he came by. Small towns are weird.
