Yesterday I learned that an instant pot is great for making chili, especially if it has a saute feature. The meat crumbled super quick and easy, and from there it was the usual process but with a shortened cook cycle. Today it tastes real good, especially with the weather we're having.

so we've got a twenty-seven year old latina as the country judge for Houston, which is cool and we'll see how she does. Emmett wasn't anything fancy, just a typical republican for this area. The funniest part is how mad the older members of my family are. They all liked Emmett and are mostly upset that she's so young, or at least that's what they're complaining about. It's always nice seeing boomers get all pissed that the next generation is running poo poo as they realize they're losing control and will be on government programs soon.

Julian Castro only existed so that Democrats could desperately invest hopes in a Latino politician who had top ten name recognition in the category who wasn’t a Republican. Somehow the Ted Cruz experience made them think he should be very weird looking.

I mean, he barely made a blip in '16 but with everyone in the world running for the Democratic nomination, an expected candidate announcing he's not running and endorsing is kind of man bites dog right now.

Pols usually aspire toward chairmanships and then cling to them like grim death unless they lose or are term limited out so

Lina Hidalgo, the new 27 year old Harris County Judge, announced that she will not accept campaign contributions from people or PACs that do business with the County - how this isn't already the case is mind boggling, but it's a good step. Hopefully the other County Commissioners follow suit (lol - they already said they weren't going to do that poo poo) or try to implement some sort of campaign finance restrictions at the county level because currently there are none at all. I'll note that she still will accept corporate and PAC donations, just not from entities that do business with the county, so this is a half measure, but better than nothing. Edit: Also came back from overseas yesterday and because of the shutdown, there was no post baggage claim custom's check at all at IAH and every single person was waived through - so if you're in the game of smuggling gold and cigarettes into the country, now is your chance.
