I wonder if they will actually have Gurney in the movie or if they'll just cut the character entirely. From memory he does two things: - plays the baliset - is an infodump for Paul when he meets him among the smugglers Then in Messiah he fucks off to Caladan and does basically nothing of consequence

It may be a swap with Duncan idaho, way more important to the story later but has like two spoken lines in Lynch's dune. Gurney will probably he there since hes one of the elite cadre leaving caladan but should probably have a role as small as Duncan's was

Gurney ends up with Jessica. He stays on Dune to form a group of smugglers for no other reason than to get his revenge on the Harkos. Then he fucks his boss' wife. I say the kid stays in the picture. (Besides, he's the one with the personal grievance against Rabban, IIRC)

There’s the inkvine scar - the prequels unfortunately decided to very graphically detail how and why he hated the harkonnens. He did have a role in Children - he interrogated Leto and was part of the chaos between his escape and the showdown with Alia.
