Yeah I think I've cast my last election ballot. I've voted V in the past to limit the dismantling of the welfare state but now they're showing that they are not even willing to do that anymore. jfc

I think it would be very dumb for V to support this deal. Populism is the name of the game in the current age, and V should act based on clear socialist principles and ideology. By engaging in "practicality-based politics" they are essentially depriving the Swedish population of a populist left alternative, which not only is a huge missed opportunity, but will ultimately benefit the far right.

Beyond what Cardiac just mentioned, another big problem is that a decision this decisive will split the activist base right in half. Some will rationalize and push on, others will (much along the line of Rutkowskis reaction) be de-moralized beyond short-term return from such an obvious capitulation on election promises. Say what you want about SD but they at least realize that risk-avoidance over principles is not a good political strategy. I'll be interested to see if Gothenburg and Malmö take this laying down or if there's another challenge to the party executive around the corner.

MP had their internal rebellion last term, which amounted to little. C is apparently a cult following Lööf, which have kicked out dissenters.
