Sugarman and Sato are the same person. You're probably mixing him up with Sero.

If someone says it one more time I'm having Florina show up as a corpse. I'm not even kidding, I was pissed off with people doing that shit back in 2010, and I'm not dealing with it now in 2016.
So we were all correct, All Might was such an idiot but yet so skilled with OFA that he didn't even know he could use other quirks.

At some point, someone is going to learn about Deku's parents and become even more confused about Deku's quirk.

Kids having unique quirks do happen, given that quirk-having kids came into being from quirkless parents to begin with. Kids sometimes get one parent's quirk, a combination or iteration of both, or something completely new.

I always thought it was weird that the quirk that allowed you to transfer your quirk to others didn't come packaged with the past quirks of OfA users. Turns out it did they're just harder to use than the stockpiled power.

in my experience the best shounen have the protagonist make the most out of a relatively simple power and the worst constantly barf new powers onto them like they hit all-sevens at a slot machine, so i'm not thrilled with this development

we'll see how it plays out

I wonder what Nana's quirk was?

You think All Might may be bothered by the idea that Midoriya could get more real face time with Nana when at best he probably just saw her image?

Well Shigaraki is her grandson, so her quirk might me similar to his in some way(assuming decay wasn't a quirk given to him by AfO)

Remember WAAAAY back when people thought Deku was going to be a quirkless Batman type hero? Seems the reality is literally the opposite where he is a quirk pinata that when you hit him enough new ones pop out.

I think right now he can still say something like "my strength comes from the energy the black whips produce if they don't come out".

As long as a new quirk doesn't appear just to save the day at some point in the future I'm okay with this development.

I'm sorta torn on this honestly. On the one hand, it's a bit eye-rolly for Not-Jack here to tell Deku he has 6 more quirks now, but they're only really usable if he gets overly emotional.

On the other hand, Deku's eventually gonna learn 'em all and Black Whip is gonna look so fuckin' cool animated especially when Deku can use it properly.

I still think the OG quirkless Deku concept would've been a loving killer direction for the series tbh.

Anyway not like a huge fan of this development but given the origins of OFA (it being a combination of quirks) it makes perfect logical sense.

Manatee Cannon

eh I'm not on board with the quirkless idea but honestly I'm not sure about this yet either. time will tell but my initial thoughts can be summed up with "why?"

and not like why does the quirk work like that, but rather why does deku need a full suite of powers like this was flame of recca

I wonder if the endgame is Deku losing his powers (maybe because it's too much), becoming a quirkless hero Horikoshi originally wanted.

Edit: Oh holy gently caress, Deku is going to figure out his new quirk by stealing Kamui Woods' special move.

I actually get why some people would put the series down with this development, I've set it aside in the past because of the pacing issues and just a lack of interest in whatever plot was going on. So Deku going from still learning how to properly punch and kick without maiming himself to him gaining an entire suite of powers overnight, making him even more impressive when we know his strength alone will let him get to the top of the hero world is kind of frustrating. But for me it's because this means more training arcs for each of these quirks.

JahRoo posted:

Well since AfO also had the quirk there is room for Deku to also have at the very least the ability to take other people's quirks as well since we're still not sure the exact rules needed to create an echo. Once the ability left the original user it was only ever in the hands of people who could pass it around and transfer from person to person.

Onmi posted:

This is what makes Toshiro not having seen the echoes of previous users even more confusing. I'd initially pegged him as the best previous user of OfA in terms of skill and utilization of the quirk, but now it seems he wasn't able to tap into these other 6 quirks as well which would definitely have helped in the fight against AfO. Either Deku just lucked into the quirk at the right time and this singularity is what's triggering things, he could have something innate to him that lets him use these other quirks, or Toshiro really was just too dumb to qualify.

Oh this would be great, Deku learning how to properly use his new powers by copying pro heroes he's a fan of.

I'm personally fine with this development as long as all the new powers are cool and interesting. I get the feeling that Deku is never going to be able to safely use 100% of his strength like All Might could, and he'll end up using these other quirks to bridge the gap.

Quirkless Midoriya sounds interesting but would've ended up boring because in the face of absolute power or numbers you basically either need asspulls or he ends up like Batman in the superfriends where he has to spend like 10 minutes building an elaborate pully system to knock over one guy while the supers are beating everything up

I like this development since it will allow Midoriya to do more than just punch harder to solve problems.

There's always the possibility that all the other powers will end up just being more utility than outright combat use, not that they won't be powerful or dangerous but they'll end up primarily helping Deku do more of the punching kicking stuff without overshadowing it.

Basically he'll have a bunch of utility powers to help him make the most use of his raw strength.

In the grand scheme of things we already have Batman, and Batman has a Robin to eventually succeed him in Shinso. Brainwashing is kinda bad power for actual fighting especially when slight bumps are enough to break it.
