turns out you don't need to make as many games when you can just shove them full of lootboxes and microtransactions

i watched a twitch stream of someone play the new Battlefront and it looks insanely awesome to play as like a trash can robot or one of the guys who dies instantly at the beginning of the first movie instead of the famous Luke Skylaker or Darth Vader, which you get to play rear end for maybe a minute of the game.

Simcity 4 had the best systems of all the Simcity games but the SNES one is special with all the cute rewards you can get, it just sucks when you're trying to get a megalopolis and a stupid plane crashes on one of your amusement park gifts that you built 400 squares of road in order to get

Does get annoying when city builders turn into basically traffic simulators after you get to a reasonable size. I suppose it's realistic but still.

Or basically F-Zero with slightly better graphics and a less crowded racetrack. I think podracing is meant to be more analogous to chariot racing, especially with the whole design of the vehicles. The movie kinda wasted what's an absolutely awesomely batshit insane idea for a sport, chariots with jet engines instead of horses.

Ghost Leviathan posted:Does get annoying when city builders turn into basically traffic simulators after you get to a reasonable size. I suppose it's realistic but still. I really don't like Skylines for this and other reasons. I want to build pretty cities with interesting neighborhood layouts and stuff. Skylines is almost exclusively about traffic, and neighborhoods are just these crude zones you slap onto parts of your city, everything is subordinate to the road network in a way that's not like most cities I've actually lived in. It was a real letdown when I played it and even with some of the better DLC's and mods I still just don't care for that game. 4 was the last good city builder. They also just sacrificed the really cool region system, where you could build things other than cities like natural landscapes and villages. Only 4 offered that and it's sad that no game ever tried to go that route again. 2.5D is also clearly best. Shibawanko fucked around with this message at 14:24 on Jan 19, 2019 |

It is completely analagous to chariot racing and as such its one of the more interesting futuristic racing in films since its not sleek hyper cars but unstable and wild death engines that explode violently with light provocation.

Real talk when I was deciding between whether or not I wanted a Playstation or an N64 I decided to just try out the demo games they had available for each (I think this was in a Sears maybe)? The demo for N64 was that Podracing game. The demo for the PSX was Battle Arena Toshinden. I made the right choice for the wrong reasons. BAT sucked but Suikoden II opened my eyes to how well a story can be told and a world fleshed out through videogame mechanics. Anyway play Suikoden II.
