Yeah, it's hard to follow on a month to month basis for me, which is probably the problem.

It's nowhere near as bad as this current arc in Batman though, which I genuinely have no idea if the issues are part of the same arc or not at this point.

This is, sadly, more important to me than bettering myself.

George Pérez announces retirement from comics. Pérez goes on to announce he will no longer be completing commissions, and that 2019 will be his final year making a full slate of convention appearances, though he will continue to annually attend DragonCon and FetishCon.

Was his big gig the N52 launch Superman? e: Looks like it was 'Sirens' for Boom.

The Heroes In Crisis #8 solicit is out and I have no idea if what we're seeing is hopeful or sinister, but the series may actually have given Wally fans something to get happy about.

quote:

You’ve seen all the clues. You’ve heard the testimony and eavesdropped on the secret confessions of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes. Now, with the killer revealed, it’s time to find out why. Rifts will form between old allies, and the trinity of Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman will have their leadership challenged and will question their own judgment. Sanctuary has become something they never imagined…and it’s still potentially carrying on without them

My guess from before about the place somehow making their VR therapy sessions real might be backed up. So, Sanctuary basically turned into a wish machine and I suppose that means it can all be reversed.

See, I'm feeling the exact opposite because both 7 and 8's covers are leaning into Wally being the mass murderer and the horrifying Azzarello Suicide Squad run taking Wally.

The other cover that was leaked ahead of time, by the same person that leaked 8, was dead Ivy scrawling out a lightning bolt in blood.

Harley and Booster are the red herrings who get absolved. If it isn't Wally then the framed, Azz Suicide Squad rumor.

As far as Titans, who would've imagined removing by far the two most popular characters from it would've hurt it? That or they're setting up a synergy reboot with the show

In my uneducated opinion while reading nothing about HiC: Identity Crisis Harder, Wally will be found guilty and be put in a mind prison that has him dream that he's back with his wife and kids, only whenever he's broken out he goes on a murder spree calling himself, Zoom, or Reverse Flash, or whatever new speed villain name they come up with wanting only to be put back in the dream state so he can be with his "family" again because the world is poo poo and they can't have Kyle have any friends. :(

It does kind of suck that Kyle and Wally haven't met since Rebirth started. They were best buds in the JL since Dick was never around.

Big new thing is a Deathstroke/Teen Titans crossover. I'm not interested in Adam Glass' Titans and with Deathstroke ending at 50, this seems like a waste of time. Guess I'll try it.
Nightwing's new emergency writer is Dan Jurgens. It's still amazing how terrible Ric looks.
Amanda Conner interiors for Batman, which shockingly looks like a light and fun issue.
Scooby Apocalypse finally ends.
I'm already not looking forward to the future of Det because of Arkham Knight, but the way Brad Walker draws Batman's eye protection as shiny in the art for #1002 adds to that.
Eww,
It looks like Dial H is completely dumping the mythology from the last series since the world behind the dial is called the "phone zone" now.
Mitch Gerads' Flash variants look amazing.
The second one's a bit Alex Rossy
I like that Young Justice specifies that it's in continuity in the #4 solicit. I bet Bendis requested that after getting asked constantly on Twitter.

This and the recurring deaths of Halo in YJ:O are making me think DC's editors need a tighter content guideline than "depict whatever you want as long as it can be undone," at least in media aimed at families in WalMart.

Sheriff of Babylon, Batman, and Mister Miracle (and probably Hi-C from the looks of it) all went the "life is an endless hellscape but escapism keeps the demons at bay" route. Now Superman is plagued with graphic worries. Can we shackle him to Tim Seeley for quality control or something?

Teenage Fansub

Are they aimed at families/kids? There doesn't seem to be an age suggestion on the front cover, but all the reprints look like they're from T rated stuff (or what would be with the old GL/GA)
If it's something inherent to putting a comic in Walmart, the upcoming Swamp Thing series is probably a bad idea.

I can think of Granny in MM and Ivy in HI-C, which we haven't even seen yet.

It's inherent to Wal-Mart. If you put superhero comics in Wal-Mart, kids are going to want them. If you're putting T-rated stuff in them, that should be indicated.

It all comes out right in the end.
Even beyond the "won't someone think of the children!!" angle, that might not be the content you want in a title intended to appeal to people who wouldn't normally buy comics in a comic shop.

I'm more impressed that I had pretty much forgotten that DC was doing those Walmart 100 Page Giants with "exclusive stories by our top talents!" or whatever, and that there's basically zero coverage of any of the exclusive material prior to The Lois Lane Defender getting mad about this one.

Definitely not a book a kid should be reading. Also something I’m not interested in reading.

I saw that they exist/will exist, but if I'm understanding the release schedule correctly we're seven issues deep into serials by high profile creative teams and I have zero idea what's going on in any of them. Other than announcing books and throwing them into the void, the only 'discussion' I see about them is like a monthly Bleeding Cool report of how someone went to a Wal-Mart and couldn't find them, or found them and they were buried under a pile of leaky Faygo two liters or something.

That wasn't what I meant at all and I apologize if it came off that way. I hadn't clicked through and I literally only know "Shades of Limelight" as a Lois Lane superfan who is vocally angry about how King, Bendis, Tomasi, Didio, Morrison, Johns and essentially anyone who has written Lois Lane since 1995 or so is a hack and a spiteful misogynist who fundamentally doesn't understand Lois Lane or women or humanity, and based on that being the vector of "look out, this is a bad Lois Lane comic!" I was skeptical. I have since clicked through and yeah, it's a lovely comic.

I mostly meant it is genuinely, non-sarcastically interesting that we're seven issues into serials by Brian Michael Bendis and Tom King in nationally distributed comics books and I have legitimately not heard anyone discussing the contents of these stories anywhere in real life or on the internet for over half of a year, until someone with a niche torch to bear (in this case legitimately, I'd say) brings it up. I really do think that's weird.

I think Tom King's fantastic, and I hope to be reading comics written by him for a long time, but yeah maybe a Superman comic aimed at new readers isn't the best spot to put him and/or the editors should more tightly police him when he's not working in obscure corners of their universe like Vision or Mister Miracle where they can afford to give him more creative freedom. I've liked his Batman though, outside of issue 50 (which is admittedly a bit like the old joke 'other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?')
