Yup, I think it was total character overhaul which was loving everything up for me. I ditched everything and just went with diversity, and I will see if that works for me. I don't need everyone to look all porny. I always wondered why, since I didn't install anything that added nudity to the game, why Lydia would occasionally appear in the nude and I'm like 99% certain it must have been the character overhaul from tucoguide.

Please keep us updated (with screenshots) of your adventures in this regard. I'm looking to get into Skyrim modding for the first time in the next week or two once I have some free time, and I want to learn from your mistakes. In particular I'm really digging your dive into trying to improve characters and stuff without getting anime porn waifus.

Honestly I was pretty fine with most of tucoguide doing the heavy lifting, I just found that the mods he recommended for making the NPCs nicer looking were not nearly as comprehensive as one would expect and (as one WOULD expect) made a bunch of women look like models and tons of the male characters and less important NPCs looked like straight up poo from a butt. I am checking out diversity now, which seems like a nice overhaul in terms of how many characters are retouched and that they don't look hideous nor extremely retouched to look like fuckdolls. E: also I assumed you weren't being sarcastic lol Once I start seeing more popup I might post some screens and then ya'll can see what I'm talking about (and maybe laugh at me depending on whether or not a character looks good or bad). Tbh I haven't even spent enough time with vanilla to know too much what is actually improved, I just know that I don't want characters to look like they stepped out of a 2012 game when the mods I'm using otherwise make it look drat close to current.

As a protip, anyone modding game difficulty has likely played so much of the game that they have forgotten how a fair, balanced fight should go. I'm enjoying my panicked dip into Bleak Falls Barrow in Omega, but even on Adept it is kind of a nightmare. I think the main quest involving you being the Dragonborn also gets some groggier peoples' britches in a bunch, so for ~verisimilitude~ they make sure you need to be a dung farmer for 10-15 levels first before doing what Vanilla expects is your first dungeon.

So, in my current playthrough of Skyrim, I've been experiencing an interesting... bug(?) that I've never seen before. Basically, a lot of fire/particle effects have had weird lines around them. I've been taking screenshots, so I'll show a couple of them below: Now, my mod list is super light (only about seven mods; the unofficial patch, SkyUI, a few more bugfixes and menu improvements, and one that adds a gametime/realtime clock to the HUD that you can see in my screenshots; none of them are new), so I'm not even convinced it's a mod problem. I also upgraded my graphics card and monitor recently, so it might be something related to that? I'm running Oldrim at the moment, so maybe it doesn't play well with higher resolutions naturally or something?

Forget Bleak Falls, Morrowloot makes Embershard mine incredibly brutal. Doing Laid To Rest before level 30~ is also near impossible because Movarth is packing a Daedric sword.

Embershard Mine was the first thing I did after Helgen in Omega, because I make good life choices. The part at the end with three bandits in the double-digit levels made me panic flee, but once I lucked out and pulled them one at a time I could generally take them. Even then, though, I save scummed like crazy to pull it off.

So what do these mods that expect you to start off completely useless expect you to actually do for the first several levels of the game? I guess you could make money leaving the game running AFK while chopping wood, and then grind some crafting skills to gain levels?

Addamere posted:The bolded part is exactly what I have seen from my vicarious browsing of NPC replacers through browsing Nexus and YouTube. YouTubers in particular love to post videos where they gush about realistic titty jiggle physics or whatever on their chosen waifu while everything else not specifically addressed is either completely untouched from vanilla or remodeled in some other completely clashing way. The latter is what I'm really trying to avoid: lots of mods on Nexus only address specific NPCs. I don't want to have like 4k retextured Lydia following me around through a sea of unmodified vanilla assets. I want everything updated! And ideally not in cringey ways you'd be embarrassed to show your grandma. Love the Garak reference, friend. Anyway, since you asked, I grabbed a few screens of some NPCs/Followers to show you what they look like with tucoguide stuff/minus creeper poo poo/plus diversity, and I think they look good. I actually preferred the Lydia from total character makeover slightly, but otoh I don't have to worry about her glitching out and working the blacksmith's forge in the nude.

Looks good so far, except in that particular shot Serana looks constipated. I notice you're playing in 1440p. I'm sticking with 1080p for now. Will there be mod conflicts with that if I stick to the install you have?

I think if you follow tucoguide he uses 1080p so it'd be even less likely that you'd run into any issues.

Skyrim is crashing fairly frequently. Is there a way to turn on logging so I can get a hint about what is causing it? So far it's crashed just outside Whiterun twice, in the fields near the giant/companions once, and several times in Riverwood and a few other places. I used MO2 ini editor to set the following settings but the logs in ...\My Games\Skyrim VR\SKSE aren't very helpful. Whiterun is weirdly buggy for me, always. I just do what I want to do there and don't go back afterwards. It lags/crashes regularly for no reason even though no other region/city does that. Papyrus debug logging doesn't usually do much unless it's a mod breaking your game, if it's just the client itself, it won't show anything.

There is no crash logging in Skyrim, because Bethesda. Papyrus script logging shuts down before it could ever tell you anything about the crash. Sorry. You'd probably be better served telling us your modlist.

Howdy, I am working on getting this going. I updated my drivers to the latest 18 whatever for AMD. 1. Partitioned my hardrive and installed steam / skyrim SE there 2. Downloaded SKSE and installed it per the readme. 3. Downloaded Mod Organizer 2 4. Downloaded Unoffical skyrim patch, and a few other mods. So far I am just trying to get the Unoffical skyrim patch to work using the SKSE.exe from within the Mod Organizer 2 window. When I launch skyrim this way i get stuck at the loading screen with the logo and the theme playing and a cursor, but no actual loading gfx. My load order is: Skrum.esm Update.esm Dawnguard, esm Hearthfire.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial skyrim patch see: https://imgur.com/7lPgKrk Ingame this matches my mods and load order as well. However after clicking new game I get no Bethesda logo and cart ride. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Every time I try to enter Whiterun I see a Redguard woman walking towards me and my game crashes. Shooting the Redguard woman with a bow also caused the game to crash. Here's my load order. I'm playing in Vive VR in case that makes a difference. I've already tried turning off the first half dozen mods that seemed the most likely culprit and I'm still getting this crash. lol the game runs fine with default textures using the onboard graphics on a sandy bridge (Intel's 2011 platform) laptop. It would be cool if you could drop the detail like that and then have a 100 stormcloaks vs 100 imperals battle but I doubt the engine will give you that much performance back

I think I reached "getting tired of swinging a 2 hander sword" stage.... even with all perks, there's only so much you can do without being able to hotkey cast like in morrow/oblivion. That's definitely 2 handed's weakness. Nightblade it is from now on I guess. Is there a way to make sacrosanct work well with better vamps? Maybe I just missed it from the compatibility descriptions.

I've gone out of my way in Skyrim to avoid the stealth playstyle in the past, opting instead for either 2H or 1H/shield. But I'm up for giving it a shot this time around. What is the suggested build for a Nightblade-style character, and what mods might I want to really showoff and augment the playstyle?
