She was a DA and then AG. She had a pretty bad history of doing everything she could to uphold convictions, even if it turned out cops/DAs held back exculpatory evidence. She also supported criminalizing the act of being a parent of a too-often truant child.

She would be better, overall, then Trump, but it's rough going for her to explain all that.

A cop may be an rear end in a top hat to you or, in rare cases, kill you, but DAs and AGs have a lot more power to make poo poo worse or better for thousands or millions of people.

Some will point out that it was much tougher for a D woman to succeed professionally if perceived as "soft on crime" when she was coming up professionally, but there's still more she could have done or could do now to help people who got hosed over by fraught convictions with falsified evidence or hidden exculpatory evidence.

I'm a big fan of Pete Buttigieg, who's basically a less angry, 36 year old Bernie Sanders. He's also a gay Afghanistan veteran who got elected as a mayor in Indiana.

So I'm gonna vote for him probably and hope that we at least end up with someone under the age of 50.

The Boeing 737-200QC is the undisputed workhorse of the skies.
Any vote that isn’t cast in favour of the person who has the best chances of beating Trump is a vote for Trump, basically.

That person will be the dem candidate.

It would be best if that person could rally as many people as possible, and that’s why people should get involved in the primaries.

Once the primaries are over you should swallow your pride and vote for that person because otherwise you are essentially voting for Trump.

Sorry fascism is getting in the way of your principles.

The people who didn't vote or voted third party or voted for Trump because "ugh, Hillary again" in competitive states are loving morons. There was a clearly superior choice in that first past the post election.

That Trump was even remotely competitive is far more an indictment of the electorate than Clinton.

It'd be great if the primaries flesh out and decide for a candidate we are all glad to support. No one's arguing against that right now.

However, once that person is decided, for better or worse, they're not Trump and apart from maybe Tulsi I don't know that there's someone as poo poo as that on the ticket.

Hilary didn't lose because people didn't want to vote for the lesser of two evil. She lost because she underestimated the Trump and didn't energize, appealed or engaged in the democratic base. Which is why she lost in key demographic states.

I have problems with Kamala but the real problem is the democrat party not learning from their mistakes, running a :decorum: campaign for 2020, appealing for the moderate republicans and kicking a nascent leftist base to the side because "they are too young".

Edit: i meant "democratic base"

The conditions that gave us Trump are not only still present, they're getting worse. You can either elect people willing to make drastic and immediate change, or keep electing status quo candidates and then pearl clutch vecause people like Trump don't sugar coat the policies you tacitly support.

You get that vote shaming isn't a super effective tactic right? Especially when huge swaths of the country are getting worse regardless of president.

That aside, I hate the "vote for the person best able to beat trump" because it's a bullshit premise. We have no idea who's best able to beat Trump, just vote for the candidate that's supporting policies/changes you believe in and wait to make decisions based on polling.

How We Destroy Lives Today

quote:

In this one episode, you had a gentle, 64-year-old Native American man being swarmed by white (boo!), male (boo!), preppy (double boo!) Trump supporters (infinite boo!). If you are trying to rub the pleasure centers of a liberal audience, this is truly a story too good to check.

Saturday was a day of liberal vindication. See! This is what those people do! This is who they really are. Reza Aslan, the religious scholar, tweeted a photo of the main Covington boy and asked, “Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?” The filmmaker Michael Green showed the same image and tweeted: “A face like that never changes. This image will define his life. No one need ever forgive him.”

The institutions in charge of serving the boys did what institutions always do in the face of a social media mob. They cratered. The school and archdiocese apologized. The mayor of Covington denounced them.

On Sunday several longer videos emerged showing that most of what Phillips had told the media was inaccurate. The incident actually started when members of the hate cult — the Black Hebrew Israelites — started hurling racist and homophobic slurs at the boys.

The Covington boys eventually asked their chaperone if they could do their school cheers. As they were doing that Phillips walked into the middle of their circle and banged his drum in the face of one of the boys. Everybody was suddenly confused. Students shouted, “What is going on?” Then there was confusion and discomfort, smirking and verbal jousting.
