btw i looked at rule IV and the president is just one of many people in a big list that have the general right to enter the House unless foreign ministers and state governors and the Architect of the Capitol can come in and give a speech at any time they want, it doesn't give the president authority to do poo poo

I’m actually curious if there is evidence that our new CIA torturer in chief is revisiting the classics to try to control a South American country and if there is actually evidence to support it beyond spurious assumptions because the dude that is seizing power happens to want to do things that will make him liked and supported by the Western world. We had almost real time confirmation of astroturfing during the Arab spring, and social media and real time on the ground reporting by civilians has only gotten more widespread. He’s making claims that should be supported by evidence and I’m curious if it actually exists. But I’ll go read the Venezuela thread instead.

The POTUS can side step the issue entirely by going off the rails and doing something new. It's not in line with tradition and decorum, but when has the POTUS ever cared about those things anyway?

This isn't even the first time Trump's blundered into being... not-wrong... about foreign policy-- remember troop withdrawals? Obviously the Trump administration isn't talking about withdrawing troops from our forever wars for good reasons (as with this case, part of it is posturing for a domestic audience), and whatever they do they're going to do in the worst possible way, but troop withdrawals are a good thing taken broadly.

I'm really glad my personal authoritarian bugbear loving over my abroad loved ones, Erdogan, is just kind of a religious nationalist. And has never ever gave the slightest lip service to anything with the word socialist tacked on to it. Nor has his country in any previous incarnation. It would probably drive me completely insane knowing that a bunch of people in this forum would suddenly go broke brain and scramble over everything to defend him with and up to "evidence of NOT CIA is on anyone denying it!".

But since hiding a mistress isn't illegal (unless you do it all stupid like Trump) there would be no reason to pierce Hannity/Cohen's client confidentiality and we'll never know what exactly Cohen was doing for Sean.
