I miss takoyaki, hard to find around my area. The second part to the chapter is up too, not a lot of food, but some nice characterization.

Managed to go this many years without knowing melon bread is not melon-flavored bread (although apparently recently some manufacturers have started flavoring it as such).

New cooking sisters of the non-isekai variety, but I think the Mangadex upload is missing the front half: https://mangadex.org/chapter/507245/1 New chapter of Gohan no Otomo, though. https://mangadex.org/chapter/507152/1

Here's a cute food manhwa about the daily life of a couple, Are You Going To Eat? It's got adorable art and a bunch of recipes. I just cooked the croquette recipe from chapter 5, it's delicious! Unfortunately, it looks like the translation is pretty slow paced, the raws are up to 200ish chapters currently.

It's a cooking manga I know is highly regarded but I can't get the appeal myself. The kid is just too good to the point where his ability to know the perfect flavor/texture/preparation is pure magic. Makes for very uninteresting encounters because I can't even pretend there's any challenge that will last more than 1 page. The chinese food porn is appreciated at the very least.

Naw, it's an accurate retelling of the 100% real era of Chinese history, the Cooking Wars, when the underground cooking society sought to control all of China through cooking. It features totally plausible dishes like the laughing buns that sound like they're taunting you (because of the steam escaping through a little slit in the dough), and realistic cooking techniques like flipping upside down and twirling a giant stick to knead dough. I don't think Mao is any more unrealistically competent than Soma, anyway, and he's far less a brash shonen type like Soma is, which is a plus. Also, all the character designs remind me of Suikoden. I've only seen the anime, but the cooking presentation takes about as long as any shokugeki I've seen.

I mean I don't think SnS is a good series either. And having popped my head back in to the recent chapters, the dark chef's are even more ridiculous than the last time the concept was introduced. A Juggalo chef was not the direction I thought the series would go with.

The manga has been going downhill since Azami was introduced, we got a bit of hopeful optimism once that arc was over, but our hopes were quickly dashed

I'm so disappointed with how the series has been going since Central Arc dragged its rear end for so long, so that's when I basically jumped ship. Cooking can be exciting and stuff (like Nobunaga no Chef), but like it needs to be grounded somehow and SnS had some grounded moments that they've since flung out the window.

Get this: the current arc's villain has a cooking superpower that is literally magic. (Or HunterxHunter's Nen, if you prefer.) If he manages to get his hands on another chef's knife, with the condition that the knife must have been won in a cooking duel or freely given, he can use that chef's "special ability". For example, the villain beat Tsukasa (former Elite Ten First Seat), so now he can use his "dialogue with ingredients" (which is basically Tsukasa having studied ingredients so carefully and thoroughly he can bring out their best qualities).
