The different races are pretty much the same outside of outliers like the Jem'Hadar vanguards - and those cost money. idk about specs though, so I will defer to someone smart.

That's the theory, but in practice it's never really been a "thing" outside of niche (pubbie) situations. Unless you're doing high challenge DPS-hunting though, basically anything will work. It's not hard to get a proper space boat going. #flyhowyoulike

For solo play and higher damage tho, roll tac.

The new missions are eh, and besides already retconning part of the show (the mirror Discovery was explicitly destroyed in the show and was nowhere near that system), I didn't care for the cutscene-induced stupidity involved.

They're generic and unremarkable missions in their own right.

Victory is Life (the Gamma Quadrant missions) have been at least up to par with that

think of them as space mages, they are kings on ground with AoE abilities like Endo-/Exothermic Induction Field and Cold Fusion Flash and in space they throw Gravity Wells around to pull enemies in and torpedo volley them to shreds

Do you like Discovery? Since CBS is making sure we're only going to get Discovery ships and content for the foreseeable future. :toot:

Also I still think Romulans tacs are a bit better off and have a better ship selection than JH tacs, but yeah either's fine and good.

The initial Medium grade Personal Endeavor was kill 20 Vaadwauar and Hard was 20k Physical Damage. Solution ? Shotgunning Vaadwaur for a few minutes on Kobali Prime. The easy one was harvest something on ground so I guess I could have theoretically run a Delta Quad ground mission and do all 3 at once effectively. One nice thing is the resulting reward boxes are Account bound so I will probably use my super OP Fed main dude to feed them to an alt I'm reviving. Oh and the Universal one was to do that one 2 team race through the borg ship TFO, laffo.

Also this year's party horn is kind of lame. It's a rehash of the balloon making one except it only makes 1-2 blue Discoveries (which disappear using the spore drive effect) or a green Sarcophagus ship, with a chance of making a huge green Sarcophagus, and lastly there's a chance it will do... nothing.

Despite all of the new factions, the main story and gameplay focus is always going to be on the Federation. The only question is whether you prefer TOS, TNG or Discovery Transporter effects.

Technically you get an account-bound item that you can use on whatever character you want, but you only get one so the same net effect.

And yeah it's pretty handy, especially since all this poo poo is character-specific. Got a little more comfortable room on my romtac finally versus my old main.

No, the item is character bound to the character you claim the daily prize on. I don't know what the gently caress they were thinking, but it is what it is.

So the k'tanco, the klank tier 2 battlecruiser, is another ship with bugged slots at the moment: one of the engineering consoles and one of the rear weapon slots.

The maintenance after the last time I posted about this problem, with the z-store tier 3 excelsior, fixed that ship. Hopefully the patch tomorrow will fix the k'tanco.

Hope Cryptic fixes it in the next maintenance. That's all there is to it, the unusable slots on low-level ships are the product of Cryptic tying the game's code in knots to make level-scaling ships work.

I guess gaining a few levels helps too. From 10 to 12 "unlocked" the 3rd slot. I know that's not how it's supposed to actually work.

FuturePastNow
May 19, 2014

No, it's not.

The first level-scaling ship they made, the T1 (or T4) Walker, has all seven of its weapons slots available for use on a level 1 character. Cryptic evidently realized this was a terrible thing to do, so the new level-scaling ships unlock weapons slots as you go. So they messed with the ship code in a way that apparently affects every ship for everyone from, I'm guessing, level 30 and down.

It's a good way to introduce brand new players to the way mundane poo poo in STO breaks, I guess.

I'd disagree, but this is because I am at a point of leveling up characters being a slog that I'm happy to toss them a bone for and use a ship with seven weapon slots right off the bat.

So the logical response to personal endeavor grinding has occurred in that someone made race specific grinding missions (with space and ground parts) in the Foundry. Just search for "Endeavor Grind: (race)", press butan to go. Be aware that Cryptic apparently is not counting kills of EV-suited Tholians as Tholians, go figure. Easy fix for that is to hit the playground on Nukara Prime, just remember to bring an environmental suit.

You get boxes of junk containing dilithium, credits, other crap as it is already, but the main point is you get experience points which trade into points you can spend for buffs for all the characters on your account. I already have 3 points spent which got me +4% crit damage in space, and there's the potential for like 300 pts of buffing. So its a year long thing to get all potential buffs to max. You can access the endeavor window from the down arrow menu where the dil exchange is if its not showing. Just be aware the game picks three categories for you randomly when you spend a point so you cannot jam all the points into crit chance or damage initially.

If you ever played Borderlands 2 or the Pre-Sequel, its similar to their badass rank system, every time you rank up you you get to choose to increase one out of three randomly chosen stats, effect is account wide

This is something of a longshot, but I'm looking for a picture someone in the previous STO thread (or possibly the one before that!) submitted for a screenshot contest on the official forums. Unlike most of the people who submitted a spanning vista of the galaxy with their spaceship in the foreground, this picture was their... I want to say Klingon away team dancing in front of a console, and it's this hilarious mishmash of aliens and one guy has an invisible head and hands due to missing textures.

A disco ball was almost certainly in the screenshot.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or did I hallucinate this beautiful picture?

I've been playing again for a few days now, and I'm getting wrecked hard by anything more than 2 frigates or most bigger ship. Doesn't seem to matter which character I'm playing or ship I'm flying. I've got a Fed Tac (w/ Advanced Escort and Exploration Cruiser Retrofit) and Sci (LSRV Retrofit), if that helps.

Is this Cryptic's way of telling me that I need to buy a T6 ship, or am I just bad at this video game?

Could be a whole slew of factors not related to your spaceship. How long of a hiatus did you take ? Do you have to repick all your skillpoints ? What does your ship setup look like ? BOFF powers ? Just for giggles you could take a screenshot of your ship setup, post it here, then get into the goon channel in game if you are not there already.

I loaded this up to see what this personal daily thing was. One was healing 6000 ground damage.

Do you know how hard it is to take 6000 ground damage to actually heal when you're loaded with the right ground traits? Had to stay standing in the lava on Nukara in the end because combat wasn't cutting it. Even then nano healing wasn't using up all the charges before it refreshed.

If you haven't been playing for a while you probably have the skills of a level 1 since they all got unspent when they overhauled the skill system so start there. Also yeah they raised max level to 65 and scaled enemies up with it so if you haven't been keeping up with the power creep that's going to be a pain as well. Struggling with frigates sounds like you need to redo your skills though.
