I’m pretty sure kids would get those “cool kids” bibles where they loosely talk about the main stories in the Bible anyway.

The article might be in bad faith, but there is something of value here- our society has done a terrible job of teaching men how to treat women respectfully, as peers, and not just as objects. Not saying these men deserve pity or anything, but we’ve only just in the past YEAR started to forcefully push this issue into the mainstream discussion. Of course those Davos dipshits could just hire a team specifically to help them.

I mean there's no real reason to attack each other since it's so better to show a unified party against Trump and just unload everything negative towards him. That's just democracy, isn't it? It's a primary and people are going to have preferred candidates and dislike other candidates. What's the alternative? Everyone who puts a D after their name is great and wonderful and we all love them? What's the point of a primary then? Might as well just have someone tell us who to vote for.

Hieronymous Alloy posted:We don't need Socialist Jesus to beat Trump, we need Socialist Jesus to save America (and the world, given climate change). I'm glad you pointed this out, because it's a conversation we should have now to get it out of the way. There's two things we need to do: 1) get Trump out and 2) save the world/Western society from unbridled capitalism and the climate change monster it created. Ideally we do both, and my guess is most if not all ITT want to do both. But if someone is framing "so and so" as a "beats Trump" type, I think as a courtesy they need to be clear if they're just caring about #1 or both #1 and #2. Can't do the second thing without the first thing but you could indeed do the first without the second. It's a clear distinction we all need to keep in mind as we get into Primary Chat so we don't talk past one another. Good on you for pointing this out.

The early Church was full of people begging Christians to not literally interpret the Bible and talk about the crystal domes of the sky because people with telescopes were pointing and laughing. It's only when people wanted a moral justification to own other people as property forever that "literally interpreting the Bible" started becoming a thing again. Coincidentally it turns out that the Bible says they were right about everything all along, except when it becomes blatantly clear they were wrong, then oopsie! Mortal fallibility, what can you do? Let me say some other things the Bible says I'm right about.

My company produces tools for industrial steel cutting and our primary buyer has cut what they buy from us in half over the past year. The anxiety in the office and from management about the upcoming year feels about how it did during the recession. Trump is seriously turbofucking the steel industry with his tariffs and he's too stupid to realize it.
