Just people tearing down candidates, blaming candidates for their supporters being mean, etc.

I saw a transperson mutual say if you support Kamala Harris you don't think transpeople are people. I'm not so sure about that. I know she did some lovely things that were bad but I'm not sure if those continue to be her positions or if she wouldn't go back and change them. I'm not sure it does any good acting like she's Graham lineham. But I'm not trans and can't speak to that experience. Maybe if I were I'd think she's exactly Graham Lineham, or worse because she actually had power.

Not just her though, every candidate seems to just have a contingent of people saying "If this person isn't the candidate I am not voting" or " If this person IS the candidate I'm not voting".

Can't all this poo poo wait until there's actually a final picture of what the primary looks like and how people are doing in it? Can't we leave they laying out of pros/cons of each candidate to their opponents? People going vigilante on every possible candidate on Twitter just makes everyone look horrible.

I mean if your past actions hosed over trans people and trans sex workers and you run on a platform of 'my past speaks for itself' then idk what to tell you

Not saying these men deserve pity or anything, but we’ve only just in the past YEAR started to forcefully push this issue into the mainstream discussion.

Of course those Davos dipshits could just hire a team specifically to help them.

But that won't help you win the primary, so everyone is gonna attack each other in the primary and leave us with people with grudges and plenty of good avenues of attack from the left that nobody on the right would had thought of.

That's just democracy, isn't it? It's a primary and people are going to have preferred candidates and dislike other candidates. What's the alternative? Everyone who puts a D after their name is great and wonderful and we all love them? What's the point of a primary then? Might as well just have someone tell us who to vote for.

I'm glad you pointed this out, because it's a conversation we should have now to get it out of the way. There's two things we need to do: 1) get Trump out and 2) save the world/Western society from unbridled capitalism and the climate change monster it created. Ideally we do both, and my guess is most if not all ITT want to do both. But if someone is framing "so and so" as a "beats Trump" type, I think as a courtesy they need to be clear if they're just caring about #1 or both #1 and #2. Can't do the second thing without the first thing but you could indeed do the first without the second. It's a clear distinction we all need to keep in mind as we get into Primary Chat so we don't talk past one another. Good on you for pointing this out.

Well, I mean, St. Augustine tried to actually literally interpret the whole thing as a stunt and got about halfway through Genesis chapter 1. The early Church was full of people begging Christians to not literally interpret the Bible and talk about the crystal domes of the sky because people with telescopes were pointing and laughing.

It's only when people wanted a moral justification to own other people as property forever that "literally interpreting the Bible" started becoming a thing again. Coincidentally it turns out that the Bible says they were right about everything all along, except when it becomes blatantly clear they were wrong, then oopsie! Mortal fallibility, what can you do? Let me say some other things the Bible says I'm right about.
