Trevor Noah pointed out in his recent special that he has worked super loving hard to never camp again, and that there's a sort of naive idiocy to being so unaware of how good you have it you choose to go without shelter. Because after having to live that way unwillingly for a portion of your life, it's not really a vacay respite after that. Edit: next time you camp, just work super hard to internalize the thought you have no home to return to and this is life now, and you'll get the full authentic experience! Stop enjoying fresh air, exercise and experiences outside your apartment unless you're prepared to always live like that. Why yes I work in IT and am an overweight goony goon, why do you ask?

I love going camping. I don't have to hate one to like the other. It's possible to enjoy either thing. The fact people don't get this is really fuckin weird. Like, why go for a walk when you can just sit down all day? What's the point? Why make your own food when restaurants exist?

forcing people to live without shelter long term is bad, ergo allowing people to live without shelter for recreation is bad - goons If you really want to get people houses, mocking the rich idiots who own us should be priority number two, and direct action number one. Camping can be step one in learning how to feed, clothe, and shelter people sustainably and freely.

Vegan or no, this is pretty dumb. Most of the points seem to rely on the assumption that we'd immediately get rid of all our grassland and national parks if we stopped farming.

I enjoyed camping/backpacking when I was young, but now that I'm an old, my back just doesn't cooperate like it used to. Yeah I'm sure there are ways to get around that, but I've become a part of the warm bed, thermostat party now. And showers. Showers are nice. When I was in HS a bunch of friends and myself backpacked to the next town (SW Ohio, they're far apart and separated by corn) on the railroad tracks. Stopped under an overpass during a thunderstorm, and found four unopened bottles of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill wine that somebody chucked out of their car, I guess, when they were overhead. I don't think, even during later years, I had ever been so unbelievably obliterated drunk in my life. That's my backpacking story.
