What do we think of Stephen Colbert and John Oliver? I listen to 'em for noise while I do other stuff and they sometimes cover stuff I missed in the news, and Oliver in particular shares information about things I'd never even considered or heard about, but neither of them seem particularly authentic. Colbert is especially bad, since he'll spend one monologue tearing into [insert criminal rear end in a top hat from Trump administration here], and then invite them onto his show and gobble their knob the entire night. I also hate his celebrity guests, and if I had the ability to I'd have Youtube just ignore the guest segments since they never have anything worthwhile to say beyond "GO SEE THIS MARVEL MOVIE, YOU'RE NOT TIRED OF THOSE YET, RIGHT?" and "I'LL BE PERFORMING AT THE FUCKERSUCK THEATER IN CHODECHUNK NEW YORK, TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW" and "BUY MY BOOK I WORKED FOR TRUMP BECAUSE I'M A oval office, BUT I THINK HE'S BAD NOW, SOON TO BE AVAILABLE IN YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY'S REFUSE BIN." Are there any good, semi-reliable political commenters with a sense of humor out there beyond Hbomberguy and Shaun?

Jimmy Dore on the other hand, seems more likely to be grifter (or at the very least, an incredibly stupid, stupid person) from what I've seen in the past few years. He even defended the MAGA kids recently.

Colbert's good people, imo. He had this brief period when he moved to CBS early on where the higher ups probably told him to use kid gloves on the Republicans. A lot of people (including myself) were a bit turned off, and after a while, and as the day's got closer to Trump being in the White House, he got some of his previous mojo back. That's also when his show became way more popular.

I never got that take myself, though I can see how some would see it that way. I thought of it less of Trump taking a feminine roll and more of a submissive one, which is not inherently feminine. Mostly I thought the comment was funny because it pissed Trump off, and anything that angers the pissbaby can't be all bad.

He has some really great segments and rips on Trump HARD. I remember when he first started off, his subscriber count was in the 200-300k range. Now it's over 2.5 million and he's gotten substantially more subscribers than even Bill Maher.

As someone who watched The Colbert Report a lot when I thought TV shows mattered I've been disappointed by what he's become as an entertainer. That show was funnier than all the other Daily Show shows.
