There was a video posted awhile back about "(some country's) worst drivers" involving a dude who, when presented with a situation where he needed to slam on the brakes, had some absolutely ridiculous combination of locking up, target fixation and wrong-pedal-itis that he came close to killing the filming crew iirc

it was nuts but very telling about how yeah, there are literally people like that who somehow got a driver's license at some point, no mind-altering drugs or age-related issues necessary

I remember this dude! I think it was Canada's Worst Driver or something, but I can't find the video now. It was frighteningly hilarious.

there's an effect where foreign language speakers are able to think more rationally and less emotionally in their second language because the work of translation helps them keep a neutral position on things and i think that video is an excellent demonstration of that effect.

Yeah, the "______'s Worst Driver" shows are all about people who are already licensed drivers but have been nominated by friends and family because they're just utterly hopeless and need training before they kill someone. Canada's Worst Driver, the original, has all or almost all of the episodes up on YouTube. It's fascinating.

They also did a "Canada's Worst Driver Ever" episode where they brought back the losers from all the prior seasons to see who was just completely incapable of learning. Kevin, the guy who "won", somehow had every single piece of advice go in one ear and out the other. It's like he was a homunculus designed to drive badly.

Here in Alberta they're deprivatizing driver testing, because standards are so bad, and there seems to be a fuckload of corruption. I was never surprised to see half the field in a season of CWD be Albertan.

I'm sad they cancelled Canada's Worst Handyman though; watching people consistently fail to read instructions and then fail immediately was always amusing, and much less dangerous to the general public.

Canada's Worst Driver is very good and the sister show, Canada's Worst Handyman is likely a must-watch for any truckfucklers out there because it's even more insane. I get being a bad driver, I don't understand how people do things like try and nail through a board that's over their knee and stuff. It's really incredible.

I don't care if they selectively edited this video to make him seem worse. Any one of those infractions should have barred him from passing a reasonable driving test. How the hell did that manbaby get his license in the first place?

Well that guy is from British Columbia. But apparently he's blind in one eye, and his vision in the other is deteriorating so quickly he needs a new corrective lens every year? I guess it's not surprising he's so terrible, dude literally can't see what's going on around him.

That is horrible, but perhaps letting a person with no depth perception and rapidly deteriorating vision behind the controls of a two ton mudermachine on public streets isn't the best idea.

You'll hear no argument from me there. As far as I'm concerned, if you're bad enough to be on CWD and not graduate in the first episode, they should tear up your license on the spot

A driver was stopped by police in the Highlands after their snow-covered car was spotted with just a small patch of the windscreen cleared.

The motorist was on the A9 trunk road at Thurso in Caithness on Tuesday morning, when snow and ice affected large parts of Scotland.

About an hour ago, my phone blew up with what I thought was going to be an Amber alert or something. It was the gas company telling me they’d caught fire, and asking me to please freeze my balls off until they’ve fixed the problem.
