A friend of mine trotted this argument out today. If a man doesn't want her to have an abortion, she should be either forced to carry it to term or pay the man. Also the man should be able to opt out of child support if he wants her to have an abortion and she refuses.
I've seen this a lot, and it's really telling how they think the option for a man should be to do whatever he wants and always get anything he asks for and never have to do anything that might be a mild inconvenience. A man should definitely be able to tell a woman to get an abortion or raise it herself with no support from him, that's just being fair!

Of everyone, Bronco routinely makes me the maddest. This is literally the stupidest take. A doomsday scenario is happening to the doomsayer, and we're expected to think they're crazy. If AOC was a woolly mammoth in this comic we would chuckle because we all inevitably knew that would happen.

There is no reference to global warming in this comic. It's just a person holding a sign saying the world is going to end, and then freezing to death, while a newspaper reports how strange the current climate is. It doesn't help that the background is just an empty snowy tundra. At least Payne was smart enough to include people treating it like just another day.

If I didn't know who these stupid cartoonists are, I would think the point of these is to say that it's clearly not going to take 12 years for the world to end. But unfortunately I do know these cartoonists so I know they definitely don't think that a situation where it's colder in Chicago than it is on Antarctica is a doomsday situation.

They literally don't want to get it. It’s hard to make a man understand something when his paycheck depends on not understanding it.

I do wonder about the psychology, though, of people like the Exxon scientists who knew climate change was real and yet deliberately sowed doubt about it. Like, even if you’re a complete psychopath, shouldn’t self-interest alone make you want to stop destroying the ecosystem? Climate change is scary and its easier to continue treating it like a joke while staying in their safety bubble.

Its always not caring about the future. Companies are loving stupid when it comes to anything that doesn't impact the short-term bottom line in a positive way. You give them a way to make a quick buck that will gently caress them over a few years down the line, they take the money everytime. A lot of environmentalism is beneficial to both consumer and producers because it creates businesses that are sustainable over the longterm without ravaging the planet. But people are short-sighted and almost always opt for what will make them the most money NOW rather than what will make them more money overtime.

Its the reason why government regulations need to exist and the free market can never be trusted to do it properly. People will ignore obvious problems in favor of making money, and while the "free market" will eventually cause these short-sighted businesses to collapse its only after they gently caress up everything around them.

To add to this, our economy is so hosed up because the top echelon of investors and institutions figured out it was much more efficient to generate a ton of capital driving a business into the ground over a few quarters and moving onto another one than it was too build up one business that will generate a good amount of capital over time. Businesses are treated disposable and their resources exploitable. It is becoming more and more something akin to economic colonialism.

You’d think so, but there were memos in Exxon talking about how they as a company needed to prepare for climate change. Things like drilling under melted ice and the like. It’s very long-term thinking, but it’s only about how to keep making money in the future.

Garrison posted:

The lefty radicals in New York love abortion so much that they’ve decided it’s fine to carry it out even right up until the point of birth.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, signed last week the Reproductive Healthcare Act, which allows abortions up to 40 weeks to protect the woman’s mental or physical health.

“With the cheers of New York legislators and Governor Andrew Cuomo over the signing of now a law allowing abortion up to the moment of birth still ringing in our ears, Virginia legislators rush to join in, essentially working for legal infanticide,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America.

Their new ghoulish ‘law’ was welcomed by Governor Andrew Cuomo and others with great fanfare and applause. If the baby somehow survives and is viable, they promise to make it comfortable before killing it. This is horrific. What’s next? Kill old people because they are no longer useful to society? I’m sure the left would love to kill conservatives, too—especially the Christian variety. The left cries for gun control to ‘protect the lives of children,’ but they are willing to kill the most innocent of human beings to protect their love of abortion. Disgusting.

Hillary Clinton already stated that a baby isn’t a legal human being until after birth. Apparently she and her ilk believe a baby, right up until the point of birth, is just a meaningless blob of matter to be hacked out of the womb as seen fit. Of course, the Clintons themselves consider other humans to be blobs of matter for them to use and exploit or kill and discard as they see fit. Think of the Clinton body trail and Seth Rich.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is much loved by the left because she has aggressively ruled in favor of abortion at every turn. Now that she’s dying (or maybe even dead already), she needs to be replaced by a Supreme Court Justice willing to strike down laws allowing infanticide. It’s time to stop the evil that is the butchery of innocents.

UPDATE:

Virginia Republicans on Tuesday killed legislation that would have loosened abortion restrictions after the bill’s sponsor admitted it would allow the procedure even after a mother went into labor.

A House subcommittee voted 5-3 to table H.R. 2491, called the Repeal Act, with all Republicans voting to table it and all Democrats voting against.
